If I could rate below one star I would. We had a group of 20, which I understand is a lot, but our waiter was not thrilled and you could clearly tell. He wanted us to know how many OG's and how many hot chocolates everyone wanted All at once but we were unsure.. He got frustrated and stated "Jesus Christ" under his breathe. I usually love this place, but waitress ruined it for us, (you know who you are, remember us, the 3 women with the 17 month old baby, we won't forget you). Great job on making your customers feel comfortable! On April 22, 2021 about 9 am our waitress looked like she was either being trained or was trying to set an example and was training the person shadowing her. Went to the Black Bear and as we were nearing the end of our meal , they sat an entire family not more than 1 foot away from us . In complaing to the manager, she told us that the distance restrictions were lifted today . The entire other half of the restaurant was empty . However, the money hungry owner was not going to maintain any semblance of social didtancing . Even if social distancing was restricted, to put people 1 foot was from us was unconscionable!! Just ok. Ordered a Shasta scramble to go and the tomatoes in the scramble are so unripe they are bitter and it ruined the whole dish. Just leave them out if they aren't ripe. So I figured ok I have fruit and an English muffin. The English muffin was possibly toasted 2 seconds just enough to heat it then a pound of butter was put on it. So floppy and mushy you can't eat it. Then the fruit is on the verge of spoiling and has that sparkly taste. Complete waste of money! The server sat down at customer table while running a request from my table. When called her out she didn't think anything of it. A server sat down at a different table with a different customer. Huh, asked for the manager cause our order came all screwed up, he wasn't there. Things escalated and was told to leave. Called back to talk with manager and he hung up on me before I could even apologize. Come to find out he owns the joint. NEVER AGAIN
They do not care about there customers ! Worst service ever ! The food was okay..... but I ordered a burger a certain way and they were not busy maybe two other tables in the there I drove 2 hours just to go there and eat ..... one of the waitress took my plate I said there is supposed to be no sauce or no tomatoes because I was allergic to them..... she brought the plate back not even 1 min later ..... and all that happened was they threw the tomatoes off the burger there was still tomatoe seeds on it ! Have loved Black Bear Diner in the past. But when my husband ordered take out in November for my birthday, he said he never wants to go there again. His dinner was messed up and the dessert he ordered for me was missing. He called and they said to come back in. He didn't want to since it is a ways away and it was cold and we didn't want the mess up the evening even more.
My daughters and I were on a day trip and stopped here to eat before driving home. At first glance, the building looks brand new. Very nice. But when we walked in, the carpet was filthy. Absolutely covered in food. I don't understand why restaurants continue to have carpeting when it's so hard to keep clean. Anyway. My daughter ordered the tri-tip.
