Our ladies lunch bunch get together was excited to have a Black Bear Diner within range of all our homes so we planned a recent visit. I've been a huuuge fan of Black Bear Diner all around the country, I literally sing "Black Bear Diner!!!" when I see one. I love the kitsch, I love the food and I usually love the service. I always tell my friends that BBD is a chain that gets it right. This morning, I was starving in Wilsonville when Yelp informed me that there was a BBD just minutes away! "I'm saved!" Stopped here for the first time with great expectations after looking at the menu.. WOW! Quite the opposite! Had to call the server back twice because he kept forgetting parts of our meal. Still served it missing the bread. And when we both got our meals, the steak was cooked terrible and my dish was burnt and they just covered it with gravy hoping I wouldn't notice?! Don't waste your time, long wait, they don't get your order correct and the only thing they will offer is 'bear bucks' so you can go in and spend MORE money at a place that gave you poor service to begin with. I waited almost an hour for the wrong meal that I was assured was checked after it came out. Much better places
Slow service, waitress checked in to fill in our waters but did not keep us updated on how long our orders would take (40 minutes or longer.) Communication is vital. When I went to pay up front at the registers, the waitresses see you from afar but don't acknowledge you. I'm not expecting them to stop what they are doing for me but acknowledge your customers by saying, "We will be with you shortly." Short and sweet.
We stopped in around the time this opened, and had to wait about 45 minutes for our food. After waiting a couple of months we decided to give them the benefit of the "just-opened" doubt and return. After waiting about 10 minutes for a waitress to come by our table, we ordered standard menu items. Do NOT EAT AT BLACK BEAR in Wilsonville Oregon my meatloaf came very cold like it wasn't heated . They wouldn't take it off the bill. I don't complain allot but when i do i expect it to be taken off the bill.. Also the waitress put her finger in it to see if i was lying... it was cold she even said it was yet they made me pay for it anyways . i couldn't take it home she stuck her finger in it and when it came time to pay they didn't take the $15 i paid for it off the bill i wrote the company and no reply worst food ever
Not well managed. 27 minutes waiting in a tri-tip dip sandwich and salad. Salad arrived 10 minuets after sandwhich. Food was ok, but the conversations among crew were very unprofessional- negatively describing guest and commenting on their appearance. I also saw prepared food being bare handed. One of waiter was frustrated that a guest complained about the temperature of their food. Told the cook to "nuke it till it smokes. Maybe that'll make em happy."
Decided to give a try. The place smelled great and the staff was very nice. Quoted 10 minutes, seated within 5. We got to our table and was met by a great server. Very nice.
