First time eating at this location. Big mistake! Have eaten at many different Black Bear Diner's but never had such poor service. Long wait to get seated. Even longer wait for a waitress to come for our order. Sat gazing at long-empty coffee cups! Food finally arrived after we wondered if we would starve to death. Eggs requested "over hard" were sunny side up and soft. Omelette that should have had avocado, cheese and mushrooms was totally lacking in avocado. The waitress finally brought a side order which consisted of two t... read more

Service bad. Ordered my meat medium came to me well done could not even eat it way over cooked. Cashier was like oblivious to incoming customers. Very disappointing I have eaton at black bear diners before and food was good but this place needs help.

This was the worst place to eat. We gave it two chances and they screwed up. First time we thought it was just because they were new. Slow service, mediocre food. The second time, it's like they completely forgot we were there. 15 minutes before they ever stopped by our table for the first time. Then when somebody finally asked us for our drinks, we said we're ready to order, only to be told that he can't take our order because he isn't our waiter. This was all night and our waitress came to our table maybe twice total. Save... read more

I love the Black Bear. Would have given 1 star but the biscuits and gravy earned it a second. I have been to many locations from Northern California to Portland. I was excited when this location went in near my home. I have been only twice since it opened. The first trip shortly after opening was very odd. Wait staff was unfriendly, inattentive and disorganized. I chalked this up to only being open for a few weeks, new employees would need time to adjust. I went back again just recently ( a few months after my first vis... read more

Sunday Lunch, 12:45pm They were busy, 15 min wait which was OK. Got seated I ordered a tri-tip sandwich and onion rings. Wife order a tuna melt sandwich. Two coffees. Took about 20 min to get the food to the table. The tri-tip was like the sole of a shoe. Over cooked, really well done. It was tough and chewy. The best part were the onion rings. The tuna melt was edible but the bread was dry. potato salad was edible but a little bland. So for 31 bucks, I think not. Never will go back again.

This was a really negative experience. We were seated right away and our orders were taken in an appropriate amount of time, but we had to sit and wait for 45+ minutes without any food (while others who arrived after us were being served before us). We finally said something to the waitress about how we had been waiting for almost an hour, and asked if there was any compensation for the wait. They skirted around our questions, and we're extremely rude to us after we asked. I will not return here and I do not recommend that a... read more

Very disappointing. Good wait staff, but slow, lousy food for high price. Chicken fried steak was meh. Side dishes tasteless and cold. Not worth a second chance.

The food was OK but the service was quite poor. It took 10 minutes to get our order taken and 35 minutes to get our orders (a scramble and a burger). The food MUST have been sitting around a while as the eggs were lukewarm but the tortilla that was wrapped in foil was hot. The service at the Gresham location is much better.

It's a shame I can't give it 0 stars. Our first experience here was enjoyable enough to come back again. Our second was painful. Our waitress forgot our drink order and when she finally did bring it around 25 mins later, she acted like she was doing us a favor. I understand busy times of day etc but when you're standing around doing nothing, I'm a little less patient. Don't come with much for expectations and you'll be fine.
