I am a regular irregular patron of Brooklyn Diner. To me it's overpriced and the food is not very good (although creative and served in abundant quantities). However, it's eclectic and kitsch -- but in a good way. In fact, to me, it's very much like Brooklyn where I was born and live. On this trip I ordered the huevos rancheros which were about as dissimilar to any huevos rancheros I every remember eating, and shockingly heavy. Bad value and service was lacking. Would not go again
Having gone to Brooklyn Diner many times since 2000 I was very disappointed with my last visit. I was with my wife, we were seated at a table by the bar and 15 minutes later we still were not greeted by a waitperson. The hostess/manager saw this after about 8 minutes took our drink order.Since I was by the bar, and was a bartender for 18 years in NYC, I saw the bartender make the drinks. They sat at the bar service area for another 6 minutes, which was 5 feet from my table. We were very excited to have dinner again at The Broo... read more
My wife and I have going to the Brooklyn Diner for years and have taken many visiting guests. I can only imagine it is under new management has changed. The food was terrible and they now serve polenta with breakfast dishes instead of potatoes. My wife's eggs Benedict were cooked hard and the sauce was served on the side did not resemble hollandaise at all. we will not be going back and it is such a shame as it was a little gem.
Food was decent but very expensive for what we got. The service was terrible. We were seated and waited 10 minutes to get a menu. Ordered a hamburger and had to ask for ketchup. Other tables has ketchup delivered well before the food. Our table was neglected. Other people came in and were seated, and then left due to being neglected.
We went to the Brooklyn diner for breakfast. We both ordered omelets that were quite dry and overcooked. Our toast and English muffins were cold. The host/managers were very nice an accommodating, but the food was not as good as I would have expected from a basic order at a diner. Would not recommend.
