You should definitely go here if you like... A snarky receptionist. When you are calling to find out why no one has returned your call, it's great to be talked over and down to you and receive the most effective customer service line in history -- calm down. FYI - "Calm down" should not be used when people are not fired up but are just trying to break up the monologue on the other end to explain what they need. When delivered unnecessarily, like I received, it is antagonistic and condescending. Phone calls returned at the ... read more

I thought my experience here was isolated; I was shocked to read the other reviews listed here. I brought my cat to Burnham Park in an emergency situation. I appreciated that they were able to handle it quickly, saw him right away and got him away from death's door that day. We transferred Shamus' care to this vet because it was much closer to us than his regular vet, Lincoln Park dog and cat clinic. I wish we didn't have to make that choice, but his health was failing fast and we needed a doctor close by. Eight ... read more

I took my dog for check up to get the certificate so he can flight with me.. I am looking for a new vet in the area so I check this one its like a couple blocks away.... shortly after the doctor arrive he look at him, give me a towel to dry him and was ready to sign up the document. It cost me more than $60 and the Doctor didnt even try to take out the termometer but he ask me if I was interested in nuttering my dog. Thanks Doc but No Thanks. I rather rent a car and go to the burbs where I used to take my dog than walk 5 min... read more

I took my cat here for a routine procedure on a Saturday morning and it was dead by noon the next day. Turns out the staff was more interested in leaving for the weekend than paying attention to my cat. Highly recommend avoiding this place. Settled with their insurance company and they accepted fault.

I've brought my dog here twice. The first time I brought my dog to get her stitches taken out after getting spayed. The whole process took less than 3 minutes and was absolutely overcharged. On top of that, the receptionist was rude. The second time I brought my dog in due to bumps all over her body. The visit was quick and she was prescribed medications. The receptionists were rude as usual and after my dog was done with her medications, the bumps were still there. At the end, I decided to take my dog to another vet to ... read more

I think that the vets and vet technicians are pretty nice, patient and competent. I would give them 4 stars. The two star rating is for my experience with the receptionist. I checked this place out last summer when I first moved into the neighborhood. The place seemed pretty sterile and the receptionist we saw there did not seem very nice. I decided not to take my dog there. Last week I decided to give them a real chance since they are only a block away from my home. The decor was the same--cold, dated, unwelcoming. Ev... read more

We moved to Chicago last Fall with our elderly dog. We took her to Burham Park Vet because they were AAHA-accredited and relatively close to our apartment. We probably went there around 4-5 times in the last six months, usually for the dog's chronic anal glands problems, and to pick up her arthritis meds. A couple negative thoughts: I really didn't like the slip-knot rope they put around her neck while she was up on the exam table. It tightens and pulled her against the wall till she couldn't move at all. I assume it's there... read more

When my dog was in her last few weeks of life, these lovely people treated her with a shitload of love and care. I will not forget how they came into the room one by one and gave my dying dog a pet or kiss just before she passed away. I was such a wreck that some of them joined me for a drink next door after they closed for the evening. Amazing people, amazing night.

I would go two and a half if possible. This place has changed a ton since we first started going there. My first beef is that I NEVER walk out of there with less than $100 invoice. I am probably naive, but I think that is kind of odd. Dr. B is very knowledgeable and friendly. The new guy...not so much. We took our dog in there b/c she was limping, the new guy said it was a fluxating patella and she needed surgery that would cost roughly $1200. My wife and I were shocked! We thought it had something to do with the cyst on he... read more
