Horrendous. I actually lived in the apartment building above this place (which is owned by Dr. Fox and managed by his offspring), and really wanted to use this vet. Their prices were higher than any I've come across in Chicago or California, so that's saying something, but I was motivated. I took 2 cats there, and they never saw the same vet twice. I boarded my older cat there, which seemed to be traumatic for her the first time, but I attributed that to her dislike of new people and boarded her there again a few months lat... read more
Worst dog care I've ever had. Was never given lab results that made a difference in my dog's care until I called insisting on them days later. While I found Dr. B to be friendly, I question his sincerity and, more importantly, his effectiveness as a vet. So glad that I decided to drive further to see Dr. Stacy at My Vet in Bucktown. She and the staff are the best!!
BAD! Bad news! We have been taking our first dog there since we moved to Chi a few yers ago. Even thought its $$$$ and the receptionist is snippy and rude...it is the closest one to us. The main vet was fine...all we ever needed was shot...until we had an issue with our second dog. Some other younger doctor came in the room, rambled for a bit, never touched our dog!! You call that an exam??? You charged 60$ for that?? Then after we told him our dog couldnt hold down pills she was taking...he gave us more pills!!!! We ... read more
This Animal Hospital is overpriced. Though this is not my biggest concern when caring for my dog. Even more disturbingly, they pad your bill with tests & medications you do not need. Just one example of many: they had my dog's stool tested in-house and planned to send it out of house for a more thorough test. . Long and short: they performed an extra, unnecessary test to increase my bill. When I balked at this, they told me it wasn't their problem as i had "authorized" the tests. This authorization consisted of the Dr. telli... read more
You have to give 1 star to post....but they are not even worthy of 1 star!!!!For those of you like me, that think of your pets as your children, my experience with the staff at BPAH should deter you from ever patronizing! I have been paying their exorbitant fees & tolerating the nasty front desk staff since 1998!! Yesterday my dog suffered what I now know was a seizure. My dog has never been sick so imagine the fear that overtook me to find my dog convulsing, incoherent & unable to stand. I rushed out of my house carrying my... read more
Yesterday morning, I brought in my sick cat. Several times over the weekend, he was expelling fluids from both ends and experiencing a fair amount of pain while doing it. I was told to call today for the results of his blood work. I left a message three hours ago. No call back. I just called to check and was told a doctor would return my call before the office closed for the day -- which could mean another three-hour wait. If something serious is wrong with my pet, I either need to take him to another facility for emergenc... read more
In mid-August walked in with a friend who has an elderly dog - and walked right out. The receptionist and a guy in scrubs -- a lab tech, or the doc? -- were exchanging comments but otherwise in their own respective head space. They both looked like bored teenagers and rudely didn't bother to acknowledge us. Too bad.
About two months ago I went to Burnham Park Animal Hospital to get my dog stitches in his leg. I didn't have the money to pay for the stitches at the time and asked if I could be billed. Once in the past I was billed and paid fully and faithfully. I was turned away. Fine. I went somewhere else--and I paid those kind people fully and faithfully. Today I took my dog in to buy heartworm medication. I was informed by the man at the desk that he was due for an exam and shots, and also that my dog would need to have a heartworm t... read more
I had a very bad experience here with my dog. We had recently moved to Chicago when she started having strange breathing issues and reverse sneezes. I searched for a vet near us and found Burnham. I took Sophie and saw a very young doctor who told me she may have allergies, give her Benadryl. I did to no avail. Took her a second time again, this doctor had no idea what was wrong with my dog. At this point, my dog is becoming lethargic and losing weight. She suggested bloodwork, which came back fine. My fiance was pet... read more
