We just go a new puppy in the beginning of Sept and our pup got sick the first night home. (probably from over excitement of a new place) Being a puppy and coming from a "puppy store" with lots of other puppies, she ended up having kennel cough and had a hypoglycemia episode that first night too. We called around to a vet that gave medical clearance for the dog to be sold and tried calling O'hana Vet (highly recommended to us)- only to be disappointed and turned away for a same day appt. Despite having never brought my cat to this particular vet they were willing to see us knowing that my intention was to have her put down. They performed an examination and talked with me, I made it clear that our family had made it's decision and the doctor understood where we were coming from. I was fully expecting to be lectured or pleaded with about extending her life. They explained the next part of the process to me and placed us in the comfort room. I found a loose dog on my way into work this morning. The dog had a collar and a tag from a local SPCA, but the SPCA was closed. I had heard good things about Caring Hands Animal Hospitals and new there was one close to my work. I took him in and the staff was incredibly helpful. Amanda at the front desk was friendly and they scanned him for a microchip. After a handful of calls we were able to find out his name and locate his owners. Recently relocated to this area and time for my dogs annual. I found this vet on yelp and went with them due to best average of ratings. I am not disappointed- very happy with the care our dog received! Not only was the scheduling easy, they called to remind me of the appt and then called the day after to make sure he hadn't had any problems from vaccinations. My German shepard had been seen at this location from the time it opened until my dog passed away in Oct 2012. I always liked it from the start. But I think they are very expensive!! At the time by dog was seeing by Dr Murphy & if she was not available a few other Vet doctors seen my dog. I'm giving it 3stars because on average they were good. Recently I had to euthanize my 11 yr old diabetic cat. The care, and compassion I received from Dr. Amanda Snelgrove at the Alexandria location was incredibly supportive. I have never experienced such a skillful and genuinely compassionate vet. I received a lovely comforting card from her a few days after my cat's death. The entire staff is pleasant and considerate I wish everyone with a loved pet to have the fortune of such heartfelt dedication from their vet and their animal hospital.

Dr Shane and the staff at caring Hands took care of my 2lb Yorkie with digestive issues. They are VERY gentle, and cognizant of the fact that she is nervous and doesn't get puppy shots due to a prior reaction. They allow me to go right into a clean room, and even pay in the room, so she isn't exposed to germs. Every time i have had to take my tiny Yorkie in to the vet, Dr Shane and her staff have been extremely gentle, caring and kind. They are so aware of her nervousness, and listen to my fears. This is the 3rd Caring Hands location that I've taken our Golden Retreiver to and while they are all great (he LOVES going to vet thanks to excellent first experience there), I am really happy with Dr. Richards at the Bristow office. She is sincere in her care and respectful in terms of any financial constraints while always putting the animals health first. I wish I could find a family doctor that I liked as much as I like her.

I really like this place. The staff is professional, and courteous. The veterinarians are patient, polite, and overall great. This is my first time owning a pet, and they have been great in answering all my questions. People say they are pricey, for which I have no basis of comparison. I will say that I think it is worth it. I have had pediatricians that don't treat my children as well as these people will treat your pets.
