The location was great to my dad's house, but I would not recommend Carmel's memory care facility.
Carmel Village was an excellent community offering all the services that we would require. The staff was courteous and explained everything especially Libby Borgen who gave me a thorough tour. The location was our problem. It was too far from our home so we wouldn’t be able to visit our loved one as often as we would like. Thank you for the referral.
Every time I visit my mom She tells me how nice the staff is and how much she likes it there! I thought she was going to go kicking and screaming when we moved her in. I paid a little more for a larger room and it feels a lot more like a home. They keep her very active!
[Name removed] is excellent! Both visits were well received and our mom was definitely happy with what she saw. We (siblings) were happy , also. There was no negative regarding Carmel Village and it was/is our first choice after all our visits in the area. The problem we have, and we sorely apologize to[Name Removed], is we did not realize how difficult it would be to find a way to control her meals. Our mother has no self control and her meals must be strictly controlled. Her medical issues would have been easy for her care... read more
What we like the most about the community is that the staff in my mom's section is friendly and engaging! One thing that might be different is my mom's room is larger than others with big windows to look out over the courtyard. It's a big help for her to adjusting to not being in her home. Yes, we would recommend Carmel Village to other families based on the experience so far.
We had serious issues with medication administration at Carmel Village. These included missed and incorrect doses. We also had significant challenges with the food. What is served is not healthy. Menus did not match what was published. There was not the flexibility regarding food orders we were told there would be, including portion management. While most of the staff was friendly and tried to be helpful there were some who did not seem to appreciate that my mom was not a memory care patient (who chose to live in memory care... read more
The facility is nice. The food is okay. The staff are very friendly but they are under staffed. My wife is disabled and sometimes she has to wait up to thirty minutes to get help. They Are friendly but need more caregivers, especially during the morning hours.
Memory care was dated. Air conditioning unit was an issue as my Dad didn't know how to use. The room was hot and stuffy in the afternoon. Staff was good, dealing with difficult combative behavior from my Dad. The entire experience was heartbreaking and the management was not as sympathetic. Hospice team was most helpful.
[name removed] is amazing! Staff was great, clean facilities, fun activities. I would just say, make sure the lead/head of nursing staff meets your resident and make sure all needs are made known. Felt like I did more caregiving after my step-dad moved in. Which is probably common with such a big change.
