1st experience of a care home. Was looking for 4 weeks' respite for my mum. Was initially wowed by the reception/lobby/outside grounds. Given a tour by the manager and all seemed great, looking back at it now and with more knowledge, there were a few red flags. Was given a strong impression that they were dementia "experts", yet flooring/bathrooms were in grey which is a big no-no with dementia as it's seen as a big hole by the patient. Caring for someone living with Dementia can be a challenge when we don’t have all of the facts enabling us to best support someone. Given a little more time your concerns would have been quite easily resolved by working with us, as this is often a joint and shared journey for everyone involved.
