I've been a patient at Chelsea Eye since 2007, and up until recently, have not had any issues except rather long wait times and the constant revolving door of doctors. However, I was given a glasses prescription by Dr. Bony (now no longer there) in June 2009, for which I then spent hundreds of dollars having the prescription made into glasses, only to discovered that I could not see out of them. I went here last year to have my eyes checked. I scheduled an appointment with an optometrist. Just to be on the safe side, I called my insurance company and asked if I need a referral for an optometrist. They told me no. When I had my appointment a few weeks later, they informed me that I did not have a referral from my doctor, and, therefore, had to bill me for the appointment. I told them what my insurance stated and they said that they bill the insurance companies as if I was seeing ophthalmologist, which is not covered ... read more
