I was a patient at Chelsea Eye from about 2003 to 2009. Within that time I experienced wildly varied service, from great to really mediocre. My final interaction was so horribly bad that I will never go there again. Problem number 1 is that their doctors change every time I go there. I have no solid relationship with my eye doctor, which is something that I value. That's not the end of the world, however, as long as you are getting decent care. And I felt that I was, even if I also felt like there was pressure for me to get ... read more
This practice, Joseph Eviatar, MD principal, is only good for cosmetic surgery or Lasik now. Take your Ophthalmology concerns elsewhere. They used to be real Ophthalmologists but are apparently no longer interested in medical patients. I should have understood this 2 years ago when, after an eye exam (probably with an Optometrist) they pitched a new vision correction surgery. When I asked how much it would cost and said I probably wasn't ready to consider elective eye surgery they lost all interest in me and practically hust... read more
I had lower lid blepharoplasty (removal of the fat under my eyes) done by Dr. Eviatar. I was 40 years old with little sun damage to my skin. When I woke from the procedure Dr. Eviatar had already left the building so he was not available to answer my questions about how things went. When I came back for my first follow up he told me all went well. By the second follow up visit I could easily see that there was uneven h... read more
I've been a patient at Chelsea Eye since 2007, and up until recently, have not had any issues except rather long wait times and the constant revolving door of doctors. However, I was given a glasses prescription by Dr. Bony (now no longer there) in June 2009, for which I then spent hundreds of dollars having the prescription made into glasses, only to discovered that I could not see out of them. Yikes. Dr. Fazzary redid my exam and after looking over my records, admitted that they had made an error. I didn't even to have to... read more
I went here last year to have my eyes checked. I scheduled an appointment with an optometrist. Just to be on the safe side, I called my insurance company and asked if I need a referral for an optometrist. They told me no. When I had my appointment a few weeks later, they informed me that I did not have a referral from my doctor, and, therefore, had to bill me for the appointment. I told them what my insurance stated and they said that they bill the insurance companies as if I was seeing ophthalmologist, which is not covered ... read more
