Stay away! I came here for Botox a few times and had to stop coming, despite incredibly convenient location to where I live. The assistants/nurses here are extremely aggressive about pushing expensive products-- they will do this whether you ask for information or not. I was phoned after leaving the office about a facelift despite being in my mid-thirties and having no desire to do such an invasive procedure. When at the office, I felt as if I were at a used car lot - once I even broke down into tears because one 'nurse' kep... read more
Another poorly run practice that seems to think its patients have nothing better to do than while away the hours in a waiting room. If you're getting some high-margin treatment, you can expect the red carpet. If you're one of the unwashed coming in for something less glamourous - like monitoring the health of your eyes - prepare for less solicitous treatment. PS - If anyone's found an opthalmologist in NYC whose office runs efficiently, please send me a message. I'm looking.
Business response:
We very much respect our patient's time and agree that a long wait is unacceptable. We are grateful and fortunate that our practice has become so successful due of the expertise and the hard work of our doctors and staff and our desire to make accommodations for emergencies and last minute appointments. We are making great strides to balance providing the most advanced treatments and personalized care to each of our patients while still running consistently on time. We thank you for your input and will continue to strive ... read more
I visited Dr Eviatars' office on July 15, 2010. I was looking to have lower eyelid surgery, known as blepharoplasty. First, I had a free consultation with his staff Amy Eidelman who spoke of a under going a lower lid retraction & I later met with Dr Eviatar for a paid consultation of $200. Dr. Eviatar said he would not perform a lower lid retraction and what I needed was Juviderm injections which would be the same cost as the "lower lid retraction". I decide to think it over. I did some research on "lower lid retraction" and... read more
Business response:
POSTED ON BEHALF OF Dr. Eviatar: Dear Mr. S., Thank you for your feedback. YES, Lid Retraction is indeed a condition, not a treatment. As an oculoplastic surgeon who has nearly 20 years of experience in treating lower eyelid retraction, I do apologize if there was any confusion regarding the procedures needed to correct this condition. We do encourage patients to get a second opinion and Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital is a very respectable institution. This is where I did my fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic, Co... read more
If you have all day to wait to see the doctor - by all means make an appointment. After 70 minutes - I finally left. My time is just a valuable. Perhaps they shouldn't DOUBLE BOOK appointments all day.
Have been there three times now for botox and had to wait over an hour each time despite having made appts weeks in advance. They must over-schedule and they must believe their customers time is not valuable. For this reason and high prices I won't be back a fourth time.
Business response:
Thank you for your feedback, we do value our patient's time and apologize for the long waits you have experienced. Our practice has grown exponentially over the past few years and consequently wait time is an ongoing challenge as our patient base increases. Therefore we are implementing a new system to help correct scheduling issues and are diligently working to resolve the problem as soon as possible. Dr. Eviatar is a top BOTOX injector and physician trainer for Allergan (the makers of BOTOX) and as a highly experienced ... read more
I visited Chelsea Eye to have a biospy on my eyelid for suspected skin cancer. The experience was awful -- an interminably long wait, a confused staff, and a dismissive doctor (Dr. Eviatar). It turned out that I did indeed have cancer, but the staff person who called to deliver the news was curt, could provide very little information about the surgery to remove it, and impossible to get a hold of when I had questions. (And forget about getting an actual doctor to talk to me.) I decided to have another surgeon perform the exc... read more
Thank you, Tiffany, for your response on behalf of Chelsea Eye which you posted on Yelp. I am adding a second star because your response is better than nothing. May I suggest that you personally reach out to your patients with complaints by calling them to discuss. Responding on Yelp without personal contact seems to me to be insincere and as if you are gearing your response to the Yelp and internet world at large and not to the actual issues or patients. I have yet to receive a response to my two emails to Chelsea Eye but l... read more
Business response:
We apologize that your experience was a poor one, are grateful for the feedback, and hope that in the future you might give us another opportunity to provide you the high quality care that has allowed our practice to thrive.
I also had problems with the refraction fee. My insurance covers all tests under one copay, but in my dazed dilated stupor I didn't call the receptionist out (who was too busy chatting with a coworker to deal with my payment) on charging me my $40 copay plus $60. I got home and was kicking myself so I called them to ask them to refund the money and left a message. When I got a call back the next day, Nancy (the manager) tells me that not only will they have to refund that back to me (but only after my insurance pays them of ... read more
Business response:
We participate in most managed care plans in order to minimize the cost to our patients. Costs associated with healthcare plans do vary as individual plans differ. Sometimes we are required to charge a co-pay or refraction fee. We always try to make this very clear at each visit. Insurance policy coverage and costs can get a bit complicated for each service provided. We apologize if this was not clear or handled properly. Customer service is our number one priority. However, despite our best efforts, we may sometimes fa... read more
I was extremely disappointed in the service after my Lasek surgery. Before they received my money they were extremely accommodating and prompt. After the surgery for the follow-ups I was treated like someone they wanted to move along because I was no longer a priority. The difference in the pre-op and post-op care is like night and day. I would absolutely not recommend this place. If you expect quality you will not find it here.
