If you have all day to wait to see the doctor - by all means make an appointment. After 70 minutes - I finally left. My time is just a valuable. Perhaps they shouldn't DOUBLE BOOK appointments all day.
Have been there three times now for botox and had to wait over an hour each time despite having made appts weeks in advance. They must over-schedule and they must believe their customers time is not valuable. For this reason and high prices I won't be back a fourth time.
Business response:
Thank you for your feedback, we do value our patient's time and apologize for the long waits you have experienced. Our practice has grown exponentially over the past few years and consequently wait time is an ongoing challenge as our patient base increases. Therefore we are implementing a new system to help correct scheduling issues and are diligently working to resolve the problem as soon as possible. I visited Chelsea Eye to have a biospy on my eyelid for suspected skin cancer. The experience was awful -- an interminably long wait, a confused staff, and a dismissive doctor (Dr. Eviatar). It turned out that I did indeed have cancer, but the staff person who called to deliver the news was curt, could provide very little information about the surgery to remove it, and impossible to get a hold of when I had questions. (And forget about getting an actual doctor to talk to me.) I decided to have another surgeon perform the exc... read more
Thank you, Tiffany, for your response on behalf of Chelsea Eye which you posted on Yelp. I am adding a second star because your response is better than nothing. May I suggest that you personally reach out to your patients with complaints by calling them to discuss. Responding on Yelp without personal contact seems to me to be insincere and as if you are gearing your response to the Yelp and internet world at large and not to the actual issues or patients. I have yet to receive a response to my two emails to Chelsea Eye but l... read more
Business response:
We apologize that your experience was a poor one, are grateful for the feedback, and hope that in the future you might give us another opportunity to provide you the high quality care that has allowed our practice to thrive.
I also had problems with the refraction fee. My insurance covers all tests under one copay, but in my dazed dilated stupor I didn't call the receptionist out (who was too busy chatting with a coworker to deal with my payment) on charging me my $40 copay plus $60. I got home and was kicking myself so I called them to ask them to refund the money and left a message. When I got a call back the next day, Nancy (the manager) tells me that not only will they have to refund that back to me (but only after my insurance pays them of ... read more
Business response:
We participate in most managed care plans in order to minimize the cost to our patients. Costs associated with healthcare plans do vary as individual plans differ. Sometimes we are required to charge a co-pay or refraction fee. We always try to make this very clear at each visit. Insurance policy coverage and costs can get a bit complicated for each service provided. We apologize if this was not clear or handled properly. Customer service is our number one priority. However, despite our best efforts, we may sometimes fa... read more
I was extremely disappointed in the service after my Lasek surgery. Before they received my money they were extremely accommodating and prompt. After the surgery for the follow-ups I was treated like someone they wanted to move along because I was no longer a priority. The difference in the pre-op and post-op care is like night and day. I would absolutely not recommend this place. If you expect quality you will not find it here.
I was a patient at Chelsea Eye from about 2003 to 2009. Within that time I experienced wildly varied service, from great to really mediocre. My final interaction was so horribly bad that I will never go there again. Problem number 1 is that their doctors change every time I go there. I have no solid relationship with my eye doctor, which is something that I value. That's not the end of the world, however, as long as you are getting decent care. And I felt that I was, even if I also felt like there was pressure for me to get ... read more
This practice, Joseph Eviatar, MD principal, is only good for cosmetic surgery or Lasik now. Take your Ophthalmology concerns elsewhere. They used to be real Ophthalmologists but are apparently no longer interested in medical patients. I should have understood this 2 years ago when, after an eye exam (probably with an Optometrist) they pitched a new vision correction surgery. When I asked how much it would cost and said I probably wasn't ready to consider elective eye surgery they lost all interest in me and practically hust... read more
I had lower lid blepharoplasty (removal of the fat under my eyes) done by Dr. Eviatar. I was 40 years old with little sun damage to my skin. He told me (with the usual caveats) that I was a perfect candidate and should not expect any complications. When I woke from the procedure Dr. Eviatar had already left the building so he was not available to answer my questions about how things went. When I came back for my first follow up he told me all went well. By the second follow up visit I could easily see that there was uneven h... read more
