This place thinks waaaay too much of itself. It looks nice enough. But $30 for average shrimp n grits. Should've had more shrimp for that price. $15.50 for a Basil Hayden's??? ( have never paid more than $12 for that) only a 1 1/2 oz pour- And hardly that. No thank you. I left here. I went down the road to.... I think it's called whiskey and water. Got an eagle rare, 2 ounce pour, for only $14. If you are in this area, please choose other options. There are much better ways to spend your money.

Let me start by saying we have been to chesters so many times before where we sat and ate in the restaurant and we have always been happy with our food! Last night the wait to get in was long so we decided to order take out and we were so disappointed with the food. The server messed up my payment and said the first one shouldn't go through so had me pay again and both were charged. $18 for small wings and no side is also outrageous.
Revision: In regards to our food, the menu's prices were increased by a few dollars on the bill based upon menu prices. We ordered the two sandwiches and soup. The food was good and better than we remembered from our prior visit to this restaurant. The actual cost of the shot of "Top Shelf Bourbon" which my husband ordered was on the same menu as the food...NO price for this shot was listed on the menu itself. I would give 0 stars if it were an option!! I sat at the bar with a friend. The bartender took our drink order and got his drink order wrong. She fixed it without hesitation as she should have. We ordered our food and He also placed a Togo order. We both ordered the prime rib sandwich to eat there. The food took longer than it should have to arrive and not all of it did. Owner is a douche. Had a line full of patrons patiently waiting for them to open. No one pulling on the door or knocking. Everyone patiently waiting. Upon opening the owner comes out and gives a condescending tone and speech to all his future customers to be patient and he cooks his food to order and everyone will be seated when they come in until full like no one has ever been to a restaurant before. Couldn't even sit there, they told me there was an 3 hours waiting, but it was 7 o clock and restaurants closes at 9:00
The food was great however, beware of this bill scam. They have going on. First they don't tell you about the cash incentive so they charge you more if you don't pay cash. We only found out after our bill arrived. A warning would be nice but it just goes to show deceptive business practices. Also, they charge an excise tax? No one else in Blue Ridge charges this and we didn't realize it until after our 2nd day in town. Hey Christina! Your review is simply incorrect, with the exception of the great food….that part is correct. The cash discount incentive is posted inside the restaurant and on the menu. The 3% excise tax is indeed a city mandated tax on alcohol sales. Feel free to look it up in the city code of ordinances if you have questions.
