I recently purchased my new fiance's engagement ring here. I received good, but not fantastic, customer service. One thing about Mervis is that you really need to have an idea of what you are looking for since they don't have displays of jewelry to look at. Instead that seat you in a room and bring you what they think meets your description. I had a good idea of what I was looking for and this worked for me, but Mervis wouldn't be a good place for someone who was looking for ideas. Honestly, there is not enough space for me to really go into detail. I tried and receive an error message that I had exceeded the max characters allowed in the yelp review area. In general, I would say this is a decent place to buy a diamond. They explain everything there is to know about diamonds, which is nice. My complaints are - you can't see a large selection of things in person before picking one you like, even though they will order samples for you (I did this). The reason this gets very low stars is because we were told that they were out of the size/quality diamond that we wanted, and one of the owners was going overseas to pick up a bunch of stones, so he would hand pick one for us. Perhaps I just didn't want to spend enough to satisfy the salesperson with whom we worked (I do not recall her name). My wife has small hands and we didn't want something huge, though in the end we still spent close to $6K for an engagement ring and custom matched band. I don't hate many things. I feel like it's too strong of a word, so I won't use it here. To be honest, I had a poor experience. My fiance and I felt like we were going to a car dealership versus going to buy our wedding bands. When we arrived we were put in a room to sit there for what seemed like 15 minutes before someone even came to acknowledge us. My boyfriend and I have been looking at engagement rings for quite a few months now and have done it all. We've looked on the internet, gone into those box-stores (Kay's, Roger's and Hollands, Baily Banks and Biddle, etc - mostly as a joke, but some provided actual decent information), but decided to go to Mervis after a suggestion from a friend. Going to Mervis felt like going to a used car dealership. It was ok. Location: This place was kind of hidden even tho it says it's near Tyson's mall. Off of route 7, the store was hidden behind a gas station. There is parking under trees directly in front of the store. Entrance: When you enter Mervis, there are two doors where you need to be buzzed in. First door opens, you go in, then when that door closes, they buzz for the inner door to open.
