I went to this facility for physical therapy rehab. I was a lot younger than the other residents. The people there made me feel very welcome and comfortable. They took wonderful care of me. The physical therapy department did amazing work with me. They where very professional and knowledgeable on how to help me get better and be where I need to be physically. My grandfather was transferred to Cottonwood after he fell and broke his hip. Previously he was in another facility(that shall remain nameless) that was clearly under trained which resulted in him being left unattended and resulted in a second fall. That is when I moved him to Cottonwood. Our experience here from beginning to end was superb! The DON Chaunon Bond made sure his transition to Cottonwood would was smooth and easy. I would like to say that this place is a very nice place. My mom ( Mary jo MacCallum) had broken her leg and went there and the nurses and all the staff were very kind and made it very comfortable for my mom to be there infact she had broke her hip and went back there she really enjoyed it there so much that she had taken a fall out of her bed during her sleep that she had called and reserved a bed. this place makes your stay very comfortable and all the nurses are very helpful and super friendly. so if your looking for some... read more

the absolute worst "rehab" facility in san diego!!!! terrible service , management and care. lacks compassion. do yourself and your loved ones a huuuuuuuuuge favor and avoid this place at all costs!!!!!

I was a patient there. The kitchen staff is awesome. Activities is great. Most of the Nurses and CN's are there just to collect a paycheck. They don't care about the patients especially those that don't have family and are elderly. I was there for about 4 years and they never helped me reach my goal of going back home. I wasn't treated kindly by part of the Nursing staff who were in charge of my medication. I had one awesome Nurse, Shary. She actually cared and took care of her residents. Cottonwood Canyon is a terrible rehab facility! Don't send your loved ones there! My mom was there for less that a month in July/August 2024 after a foot amputation. It was a constant battle with the med nurse to get pain pills. My mom was in constant pain. They did not change her soiled diaper in a timely manner. She sat in her wet and/or soiled diaper for several hours daily. Her call button was broken more than it worked. The Director of Social Services, Denise, was very difficult to work with. My mother spent some time here after a fall that broke her hip. The physical therapy was almost non existent. They have a giant PT room that they use as a dining room so must not emphasize therapy. One nurse showed me that they write the date on a person's wound bandage so they know when it was changed last but then when I came back for next visit I could easily see that no one changed bandage in several days. They also took advantage of my old parents by refilling every single prescription they have and having them sign a c... read more
