Some of the people at this place are great. Specifically, the PT staff and some of the CNA's (like Pablo). All of the staff are kind people, but most seem incompetent. We had to fight and fight to get the nursing staff to give our Dad his meds at the right time. Most of the time, they completely disregarded the doctor's orders for the meds. We spoke to the Dir. of Nursing about this, and she ensured us she would take care of it, but she never did anything as far as we could tell. This facility I would give a 5 star to the therapy crew, Daniel, Laura, Russell, sorry I forget the rest of their names, however they deserve 5 stars, cna's Angelica, Kelly, Inor, Raven,"T", Anahi, Vanessa, Nancy, Ty, I cannot remember some of the names, however they know who they are. Zero review for the most disgusting place ever they killed my dad. He had a stroke three months ago and he was taken there. I used to go and my family see him everyday and had to ask the most laziest and they are racist gang which are Mary, Miram, and Fransec to change his dipper because its full waiting more than of 30 minutes and nobody came and thats everyday story. Health care is sub par at best. The staff are unskilled. I understand if the pay was higher it would attract more qualified staff. Customer service is non existent with the residents and family. If, excellent customer was viewed as a core value it in turn would improve quality of care. I have been able to visit my mom without signing in or out, no one knows I am here, 3 times just today. My own mother was a patient here thirty years ago for a few weeks, until her death. I found the place attentive and caring. Recently my daughter was a terminal lung cancer patient here , with Sonata Hospice . If it wasn't for them, she would not have had much care at all. Some personnel were friendly but I guess it depends on what time of day you happen to be there. If your doctor or hospital seeks to send you to Cottonwood Canyon Skilled Nursing facility and you are under the age of 80 or heat intolerant or need more than a single hour a day of combined therapy don't go or make sure that you have an advocate go in advance to view the facility to see if it will be a fit for you. It is a nursing home of the "old school" type. Don't believe the pictures on the web site, that is not what it actually looks like in 2019. This facility looks good from the outside and the reception is kept up, but look deeper. I found that the rooms were generally clean. The bedding was almost non existent. When staff remade bed they did not have enough clean linen to complete the job. Patients are given a sheet and a very light blanket (if any). This place is the worst nursing Home they don't care about their patients Lowest paid nurses in El Cajon and they have NO IDEA what they are doing the whole time my Mom was their they rarely got her out of Bed. On the weekend she a different person during the week they just would check on her I went every day to make sure she was feed they hardly feed her. I witnessed, what I feel is elderly abuse and neglect at Cottonwood Canyon Healthcare. July 28th 2018 I went to visit my friend who had been transferred to Cottonwood do to a stroke, leaving him unable to utilize his legs. When I arrived on July 28th I found my friend laying in his bed in his own pool of urine. His clothes were soaked his bedding was soaked and they had a bucket underneath his bed to catch the excess urine.
