My elderly father was placed here after a hip surgery. He was released from the hospital under hospice care and then sent to Crystal Cove for 4 days before being able to return to his home. As far as his experience here goes, I can only say that this place is a hell hole. Patients are basically left to die here. I called from out of state to check on my mother. I was transferred three times and put on hold for over 15 minutes. One of the nurses who wouldn't help me actually started to argue about the pronunciation of my mothers name. Finally I left my name and number and I was promised a call with 15-20 minutes from the head nurse. Well 35 hours has gone by and no return call. My father is a resident of Crystal Cove Rehabilitation in Newport Beach, CA. We looked earnestly and did a lot of homework when placing my father in a Nursing Facility. The Medicare.gov rating Nursing Facilities has a Five Star System for rating facilities and is the most objective evaluation service. This is the Government and you can't buy a rating like you can on other sites you must earn it over a number of key issues. This is more objective than someone rants about something. My mother was a patient here after hip surgery. I moved her out of this hell hole after 4 nights. This is by no means a rehabilitation center. This is a nursing home and not even a good one. Very very poor care, complete lack of communication. No rehab, just left in bed in a diaper. Roommate blasted her TV 24/7. No rest at all. Everything that I requested was either ignored or done incorrectly. If you wish a good recovery and a return home for your loved one, DO NOT EVER put them in "Crystal Cove"!

Incompetence and disorganization at every turn that is clearly a reflection on management and leadership. Nursing is disorganized and ill-informed about patient needs and limitations. The kitchen is incompetent and SERVING PATIENTS THINGS THEY ARE ALLERGIC TO. My mother who has dementia was repeatedly served food that would make her very ill. Please stay away if you care for your loved one. Our mother is there now. Been there two days. We are fighting to find another place. I don't know how this is legal. It's a medicare crash pad where they just take and take and take patients and pile them up. The room is about 80 degrees. We saw the nurse for 3 minutes when we got there, she acted as tour guide pointing out the highlights for visitors not bothering to ask why mom was there. Negative stars. I'm going to report this facility to the authorities. They are grossly under-staffed, they neglect their patients, and when you do complain, they try to appease by blaming individuals, when in fact, it is a institutional problem.
