TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A. In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

I finally tried Dave's last night. They were very busy. First, the chicken: it's very good. I got mine medium spicy and it was delicious. It teetered just this side of the line of being too hot, so it was enjoyable. The crinkle cut fries were ok. They too have some spice. My issues with the restaurant are 1) the supreme waste generated by non recyclable containers. Whether you are eating in or taking out, all orders are packed "to go." On 11/18/2022, we tried Dave's Hot Chicken for the 1st time. The place was crowded, and there was a steady flow of customers and Eats drivers. The wait time for our to-go order was about 20 minutes. We opened our boxes to find two large pieces of chicken tenders. One on a bun, one on a slice of bread. The chicken was tender and cooked to perfection. Solid hot chicken. I've tried all the spice levels from hot up and they're all not bad. The reaper hot is pretty hot but it's no where near as bad as like a smoke eaters hellfire wing
