Its all about the money. I should have waited until Monday to take Duke to my own vet for treatment . I was given an estimate of $6800 - $9100 for a splenectomy. I decided to have him put down . I love dogs but it's to the point I no longer can afford them or take the pain of losing them ( DUKE 7YRS , JD 8YRS, HERSHEY 15YRS )
Had to give 1 star to write a review. Worst Vet hospital in Suffolk County. Told my dog had fever, enlarged organs, intestinal blockage, possible cancer and a mass that needed to be removed. My dog was started on IV & antibiotics. They tried to force me to do a ultrasound, xrays, exploratory surgery & take biopsys. Told bill must be paid in full prior to tests being done. My dog was on death's door when we brought him in directly after a visit with our vet. He had air in his chest cavity. He had to be wheeled into the building on a stretcher because he wouldn't walk. They tapped his chest (put a syringe in) to release the excess air and put him on oxygen. Without doing any test whatsoever, not even an X-ray, they diagnosed him with having Tension Pneumothorax. My dog couldn't move her back legs. We arrived in the snow storm. My husband and my kids were with us. Dr. Lauren Sikorski DVM was very unprofessional She didn't seem as though she knew what she was talking about. She mentioned surgery, then she mentioned that our dog was overweight not one time but quite a few times. Ok we get it. We are not stupid. Then when we decided to put the dog to sleep. Wow this is a horrible place! It's very simple I brought my rabbit in who was on his side having problems breathing. I lived about 10 minutes away if that and being in a frantic state I forgot my wallet. They refused to look at him until deposit was paid!!! I begged them to look at him while I went for money because each minute is so important. Well he was dead when I returned! Oh the vet on call decided to take an xray. My bill was $500 and I took my rabbit home to bury!
I wish I could give them NO star. After bring my 7 month old cat with a severely mangled and degloved front paw to a local vet in East Hampton ( they will have another review) and was told it was beyond their scope, they directed me too the EEVEC. when I arrived they acted as though they were going to be nothing but kind,caring and have the best interest in my cat. they took us in an exam room and told me the surgeon would not be in till Sunday or Monday in the mean time they would take xrays and keep her comfortable till ... read more
Around Thanksgiving/Christmas 2014 my dog was diagnosed with heart disease. I brought my ten year old lab to find out my options. At the time I did not have pet insurance and couldn't afford anything quite expensive. After waiting for about 30 mins we finally saw Dr Parente and a vet tech they suggested and pressured me into doing elaborate testing including multiple sonograms and x-rays. It's really a negative -10. I bring my dog their at 2:00 in the morning with my 10 year old daughter and 11 year old son. The vet looks at my dog who was advised that he had been throwing up for 48 hours ( just a note that he threw up their and I was handed a towel to clean it up) after the examination they took my dog away and she said she would write me an estimate. 2 hours with ?? I wish I could put a negative star rating here. We brought our 13yr old shepherd/husky mix here with we didn't know what. Turns out it was bloat. His stomach was completely turned and twisted blocking his organs from anything. We couldn't afford the $7k plus they wanted to charge us for the surgery so they told us they would try "non-surgical" ways.
