Get directionsEHS is only a money-maker for whoever the hell created it. They don't care about their residents, they're cheap, and the staff is rude and condescending. I currently reside in the Brooklyn Heights Clark residence. I am a college student, and was in my last semester in Ohio, finishing finals, and just couldn't afford the time or energy to look for an actual apartment to sublet in NYC for the summer, so I chose EHS because they gave me the impression that it was a vast wonderland, a mecca in the middle of the city. That co... read more
The location is the only good thing about this place. There is no effort to make our stay a comfortable. They don't care about our shower that doesn't drain so any day now it's going to leek into the rest of the bathroom and into our bedroom. (They're not tubs, they're walk in showers). The internet doesn't work, the cable doesn't work, AND one of our lights in the main room is out. It looks like a jail cell in here. It's been a whole week already EHS St. George/Clark. Get it together and do your job.
The St.George Residence is a crap hole. The website make's it look like a pretty nice place to live with well lit rooms that could really make you feel at home. false. the linoleum floors were dirty when we came in, we were lucky to have 2 lamps in our room while other people had only 1 and there's barely enough space for the three people to be living in a triple. the air conditioning broke multiple times, not only in our room but in other resident's rooms and I know a few rooms flooded. the windows didn't have screens on t... read more
Samantha and Dan's statements are nonsensical. My review comes from my very recent experience with this awful place. Please try to explain away the fact that my water was constantly being shut off, I spent double the amount of money I expected to because there is no readily available place to cook, and why the room was filthy upon my arrival. Gotta love the refrigerator though...as it hummed loudly all night. Thanks for the experience. I now know what it's like to live in a glorified YMCA.
I as well did not believe the reviews that people had said about EHS and I should have. I stayed in the Midtown Manhattan location as well and the rooms are very small! Especially when you have to share it with two other people. You also have to share a kitchen with the entire floor which is about 100 other people. When I lived there the kitchen sink was broken for two weeks. The money you pay for this place is not worth it, sublet from something on craigslist, trust me!
Way overpriced. You're better off finding a roommate on craigslist and living in a real apartment. I stayed at the Vanderbilt YMCA (or Eastside Residence as they like to call it). This place should be avoided at all costs. Don't even get me started on that noisy radiator that prevented me from sleeping from November-April. The new place they just made on 3rd Ave and 97th street looks like it might be nicer than the others, but there is no reason to pay what they are asking for. I think it's like over $2000 a month for a si... read more
I have many, many friends that live in an Educational Housing Services and they have had much luck and really enjoy living there. The woman below (ALEXANDRA F.) clearly doesn't value trying to keep students safe and doesn 't have a CLUE as what it takes to live in Manhattan. She comes from Fairfield, CT, GO FIGURE she is a complete SNOB. This isn't living at home with MOMMY AND DADDY paying the bills and giving your spoil ass everything you want. Sorry that you are SO lazy that you can't take an elevator to the kitchen t... read more
This place is a DUMP! I had to live in their Midtown Manhattan location while interning because I couldn't find an apartment with a 6 month lease. When I moved in it looked like the room hadn't been cleaned at all, there were scuff marks all over the floor, brown stains in the sink, soap scum in the bathtub. Not only that, but the blinds on the window were broken and the bathroom door didn't even close! If thats not bad enough, when I came to check in, they had no record that I was even scheduled to arrive, and therefore... read more
I lived in the St. George for a semester, sadly the St. George is connected to the Clark St residence, which is basically a luxury mansion compared to the St. George, so living in the St. George is one giant disappointing tease. The rooms are okay, they're small, but they have decent bathrooms. My biggest complaint is the cockroaches, they are the size of your fist and they're not afraid of you, or the light. They are ALWAYS chilling out on your toothpaste or toothbrush, it's disgusting. There was also a huge bed bug epid... read more
