My romance with Extra Space Storage just keeps getting better. I drove by today and noticed they were running a special on larger units. I haven't been in my unit for even a month yet, but I went in and inquired about the special. Within ten minutes we had signed paperwork, they transferred my year lease on my current unit over to a new, larger unit at the great promotional rate, and they did it all cheerfully and without any bureaucratic, we-just-work-here-the-home-office-won't-let-us-do-that mumbo jumbo. I checked out a couple other storage places in the area and they were all pretty dingy, open to the elements etc. I got a storage space at Extra Space which was clean and air conditioned. The first month was practically free, they have some setup fees and insurance stuff, but I think it's like 30 bucks. You can pay your account online too which is convenient. I think it might be a little more expensive than some other places but at least my stuff isn't covered with dust.
The assistant manager at the Belmont facility on Harbor last year. I made a couple payments and I remember him telling me months ago. He says you're paid till February 5 why do you wanna pay anymore? I always pay my stuff down. I always thought this guy was a little crazy to be working there smoking weed all the time he was kind of funny, but in a dangerous way, so when I went to go pay another. month I told him I should be good till April 6. i think you guys should have at keast 1 person on duty on holidays. i failed to out more things today because the walk in gate for people is locked thus i was not able to get in. and key in the access code

Raised rate by 85% 2 months after move in, which was only communicated to me by usps mail. Additionally elevator has been broken making it more difficult to reach the storage unit. Calls to the office go unanswered and toll free line offers no help or insight.

DO NOT USE THIS PLACE, YOUR LOCKER WILL BE BROKEN INTO, YOU WILL DEAL WITH DRUNKS AND VAGRANTS AND THE UNIT IS LEFT UNSECURED. HORRIBLE COMPANY!! I have had a storage unit here for years. NOPE, Absolutely the worst experience ive had with a storage facility. IF YOU CARE FOR YOUR BELONGINGS, DONT STORE IT HERE. Even with the gates, security pad, storage alarms, and cameras how in the heck do storage rooms get broken into with no info on how it happened and when it happened? A majority of my belongings were taken and when I filed a police report, they advised I was the 4th person to call them about a burglary at this exact location in the past month. Overall, this was a NOPE experience for me.
I really appreciate the workers help here, they did wonderful job here! BUT the Extra Space company super sucks, they sent out rate raise letter within 5 months after you sign the contact, and they said if you don't agree with that you can move out, WTF plan is this?

They do raise the rates after 4 months. You need to ask a lot of questions. Like the first month, FREE is only good for you if you plan on staying there less than 3 months. The price per month is a lot less if you don't take the first-month free deal. It is better only if you stay longer. My rates are too high. I also don't like that they make you pay for insurance and an extra $15 a month depending on how much your stuff is worth. If you can get insurance to insure your things in a storage unit? Do it.
