I use my storage unit for work purposes so I can't complain on prices or etc, but what I'm upset with is that the storage facility is continuously not opening on time and they are closing early. They have listed that they are open until 7pm on weekday; I arrived at 6:45 to quickly grab something from my unit and the facility was closed, no one was inside, I even tried to call and no one answered.

I would give this zero stars if I could. Be ready for surprise billing and bait and switch prices. This is basically one level short of a scam. My rent was jacked up 50% without my knowledge or approval and the company told me to kick rocks when I complained. They told me it was a "promo" rate even though that was never disclosed in any communications or documents, so I had zero expectation of a change. Nice facility, but a bait-and-switch operation. Over the course of a year they raised the price of my unit first from $189 to $223, and then 6 months later piled on an additional 45% increase to $323. Fortunately, there are more rational alternatives. UPDATE: They offered to trim to latest increase down to a mere $283, which I'm living with for the moment, but am actively looking into an alternative or, at the very least, to downsize my unit.

AWFUL Experience - I have never in my life encountered such unprofessional and uncooperative behavior. Issue#1: I make the rent payment for December-Jan and I still get a call that my rent is due. Understandable - sometimes, system issues occur. The facility manager tells me it was applied inappropriately (doesn't apologize) and so he will reverse the transaction and I need to make another payment. BEWARE THE BAIT AND SWITCH. Signed up for a 10x5 storage space at the "internet rate" of $116/month in March 2018. Was happy with that rate and the facility was fine. Autopayed on credit card for 5 months, and then noticed the charge last month was $248 - more than double. Called to ask what was up and was told they can increase the rate at any time they wish - for any amount. And clearly they DO THAT. Buyer beware. Anybody considering renting with Extra Space Storage should know that they may hike your rent significantly (40%+) with little to no notice, even if you've been a loyal customer who pays on time. Story follows. I've been a tenant of Extra Space Storage for going on six months with my rent paid on time each month via credit card based autopay. The facility itself is clean; however the customer service in the past 2 years has declined and rates have doubled. It is also very difficult to remove trash from this facility. According to the staff, outside of light trash and broken down boxes all other unwanted items can only be removed via a third party junk service. You must request permission to throw away the light trash - the trash dumpsters are under lock and key. The facility is not upfront with customers about this rule upon signing a contract.

What a rip off!!! I walked into this facility and had to increase the size of my unit I had reserved online on-site... No free months, no deals, unreasonable rates, no negotiation. Even when it was realized that the facility directly next to them was considerably less, they refused to even consider a reduction. 4 months later my rent went up another $30/month.
