I had an absolutely horrible experience with Extra Space Storage. I logged in to pay my bill and saw a charge that made no sense, so I called my storage location. Unfortunately, I got Sharon, who was extremely unprofessional and clearly has no idea how to speak to customers or handle even basic criticism. When I asked to speak to a manager, she said she didn't know when he'd be in. They do the classic bait & switch. Gave a move in cost to park my rv $80 a month - in 3 months they charged me $130 a month and now 3 months after that $195 a month. What a rip off / run as fast as you can from these guys - never been so ripped off in my life

Just wanted to remind and warn people That extra space will offer you low introductory rates but guaranteed within 60 days of occupying your space. Your rent will go up sometimes as high as 50%. I've seen it happen time and time again I've moved out of the area but it's happening with the same extra space in this area that I'm in now do not rent. You'll wish you hadn't.

My rent was doubled because they painted. Not really worth it but I'm not around to move my things to another facility. Unfortunate because I really enjoyed this facility until this change

First of all Elaina Frye location mgr is awesome. If you only dealt with her, it would be perfect. Move in November. I paid a year in advance. Within a few months she was off and I went in, Timothy (I believe his name was) had us "urgently" move spaces because there was screw ends exposed and safety purposes we had to move out until they could resolve it. Please BEWARE! I rented a storage unit 3 months ago at Extra Storage in Cathedral City. My monthly rate increased by 30% not even 4 months into the lease. They fail to tell you that when they are almost at full capacity they can and will raise your rent to whatever they please. I understand a yearly increase, but I just spoke to the manager Elaina and she explained they raise the rent every 5 months and then every 9 months; this making it almost twice a year. like the other reviews about the manger who's been in charge about 1-- 1-5 years . she took over for Cindy the previous manager , immediately she began harassing me .. I have been in this location for about 19-12 yrs before extra space acquired it. it's been a nightmare here and she doesn't keep the place clean - used to b very clean - she's very rude - today an incident with the gate hitting my truck - she tried to force my thru - she removed sensors. they always worked prior - I was stuck in middle - if sensors worked ... read more

This place is ridiculous. Starting with the rude woman who works the front desk who believes yelling at customers is an appropriate way of working with the public. This is one of the most expensive storage facilities in the desert and it's one of the worst up kept. Peeling paint every where broken locks and gates out of order more often than they are working. I have used Extra Storage several times, but this was my worst experience ever. Constant rate increases, doubling my initial rate. When I moved out, I was told to just leave with the lock off the unit. Someone placed a few junk items in there and I was called to remove them! There was a truck rental bill a box from the people that left them behind. Terrible customer service!!
