The business owners are nice. They helped me a lot. I ran late on a payment by 30 days. I was stranded in the Bay Area and relocated to this area for work and school. I was being hurt and was overworked. The owner of the building was nice enough to let me go another 24 hours without auctioning my things. I appreciated the service. Oh, this is awful. Horrible customer service. They were really friendly in my initial contact with them and they had good rates, but when I made a deposit to hold the space and cancelled the space afterwards, they claimed to have refunded my deposit. I called twice to confirm this and they never issued a refund. Not sure if this was a mistake or their way of making extra money, but after 2 times calling them you think they would've figured it out. Will not do business with them in the future because of this.

Agree with other poster about the rate increases. This is how they make their money. Our rates increase by $10 a month every six months or so. We signed up around $130 and now we're almost at $200. Forget it, we're moving out. ALso, the place is not well lit or well maintained. Our door has gotten stuck several times just because it's cheap construction and our unit is virtually like a cave in terms of light.

I've stored my stuff for the past 2 years at Extra Space Storage. The rates were low at the beginning, then 6 mos later, they start jacking up the rates ever couple months, and now, i'm paying about 30% more than I did when i got there. I actually pay about $20 more a month than I would if i just walked in off the street and rented the same space. Who would think you could give a bad review or any review for a storage facility? Well lets say this the storage facility is fine its the people who work in the office that leave you with a really bad feeling about the place. Suffice to say this they withhold information until they have your money and then nonchalantly drop a card and a person in front of you and ask for your fingerprints and if you question this they flat out lie to you. These people are the biggest crooks in the storage business. They bait and switch you on the units, threaten to auction your items if you're late for 30 days, charge you fees for liens and late notices and raise your rent without giving you proper notice! I've never dealt with such a flagrantly dishonest company in my life! The only reason I'm still there is that I'm out of the country and have no choice. Don't do business with them. You'll be sorry!

One point off: we filled out the paperwork to have our monthly fee paid automatically by credit card--twice!--and yet they continued to send us a paper bill. I tried a third time by phone, but they told me that I'd have to visit in person. In short, over an hour wasted messing with bills and unheeded forms. One point off: they tagged my lock with a sticker. Sure, it's "just a lock," but it's *my* lock, and you didn't ask my permission to deface it. Expect your rent to go up annually, and don't expect to get a $50 credit for referring someone, as they advertise. You'll both receive forms and forms to fill out and submit, and then nothing happens.
