My storage unit was burglarized, none of the employees showed any compassion or concern. I'm positive it was an inside job. They claim to do lock checks daily but left my storage open for five days. The day I was robbed is the day they contacted me. Since then no managers will return my calls they won't even speak with me honestly when I pop up. No one wants to investigate it. I rented here because I needed it last minute. Sounds like most of us rented here for that reason. It's WAY OVER PRICED to begin with.... Moved in anyway... Needed it and it was in the middle of rioting and a pandemic. The door has never closed all of the way and debris and dirt... rocks and more have come in and constantly covered my items with dirt. DO NOT RENT HERE! BEWARE! my unit (at Cedar and 2nd) was mysteriously entered and my most valuable possessions were stolen... Including my laptop, bike... basically everything of value. PLEASE, If you've been victimized by this facility, had your belongings stolen, get in touch with me by requesting I "friend" you here on yelp. I want to reiterate the low-star reviews here, primarily based on their price-jacking and hidden fees. Whatever you are quoted on their website, add a $15 or so charge for "insurance," which is required. If you have to get a storage space, do yourself a favor, go online and find a real insurance company to get a policy from, for about $5. After renting space from them for a few months, my monthly fee went up nearly 20%. (And based on reviews here, it will again go up in another few months.) Why is this legal? Rates almost doubled in two years. They lure you in with low rates, but then keep raising them and raising them and raising them.
BEWARE of WEB rates. They seem better than average, but WILL go up to "market" rates within a year. No-one thinks they will keep there storage that long, but we always do... This is what they count on. You begin paying cheaper, then raise price in 6 months then again at 1 year (+20%), then you are paying corporate "market" rates. A good initial investment for them, because then it becomes inconvenient to move your stuff to a reasonable priced storage later. Management (Ali) informed me that the entire J building leaks and that they/she is aware of this yet they continue having paying tenants in that building(!) They stated that they are aware that the building is notoriously leaky--- but I never received a call or an offer to move my belongings to a non-leaking unit which one would think is the minimal thing a storage facility should do when they have a defective roof and leak problem. They are like the others in this industry. They will lure you in with a low rate, but then raise it often and much - about 25% a year.
Extremely dissatisfied: Their Berkeley unit foreclosed on our household possessions during the recent holidays, during which time we were first dealing with the critical illness, and then mourning the death of a very close family member. We never received any timely, mailed notice advising us of outstanding late charges, fees, etc; this may be actionable.
