This place is problematic for many reasons. The first one is that there's no rent control on storage and they jack up the rent about every 4 to 6 months. It doesn't matter if you're a long term customer, they are greedy and keep jacking it up. It's a horrible experience to drive into this place, which is no-man's land (no-woman's land, no-one's-land). Few days after I moved in, my stuff was wiped out. Extra space claimed they had been calling me, but only left me an email a week after the incident. Rather than checking various cameras in the area, they only looked at the camera in front of my unit and because I didn't park right in front, they claimed they didn't see me on footage. The new person working there is literally horrible. She is unprofessional and had the audacity to hang up on me after messing up and cutting me off a bunch. This place is ghetto. Gotta say, if the staff is authoritative and treats you like a child, then they are regularly dealing with children or forcing them to behave like children by being condescended to. Moved out, tried to throw away some stuff in their dumpster with zero signage that the dumpster is not for storage residents. Had a staff member come out of the office while shaking her head condescendingly from a distance. I've been a customer with Extra Space Storage for a little over 5 years but with this particular facility for 3.5 of those 5 years. I recommend you give SERIOUS consideration BEFORE you choose ES for your storage needs, and not just at this location but at ANY location of this corporation. I'll begin with the negative. A little disappointed that with some of the policies the storage place has. I vacated the storage early and was sent notification that I had vacated storage, but they were unwilling to do a partial refund of my fees. I was told unfortunately I have the storage until next month. I think that is a waste when the storage could be rented out to someone else.

Don't rent here. The workers at this location don't care about the customers. I was a customer for 2 years. I moved my stuff out this past Sunday. I called them Monday twice to discuss my account closure. They didn't answer either time. I drove to the site and they had a "Be Back in 1.5 hours" sign, I left. So I did the "Live Chat' thing on the website. I asked to close my account but I was told I couldn't get a credit for rest of the month (which I was fine with). AWFUL! My storage unit was broken into and they stole my husbands heavy duty tools, which came out to ~ $10,000 loss! Their security cameras are terrible and record low quality images and they only have a few cameras. The cameras really give you a false sense of security. The thieves literally just broke into the unit and it was recorded on camera, but the quality was so poor that the thieves/ their car could not be identified. I was paying for a storage unit at AAAAA Self Storage when Extra Space Storage bought them out. I paid for a unit for an additional 5 years at Extra Space until I found a big enough space in Berkeley to move my stuff into. Yes it took that long. So I closed my account with Extra Space. This place would get four stars except for they are more than double the price of storage elsewhere. They also have had homeless people renting spaces as living spaces, though the people I saw lurking were keeping it way down low. They have great gate hours, so there's that.
