I rented a car at the Phoenix Airport. The clerk who handled my rental not only lied about gas prices to convince us to do the pre-paid fuel, she never mentioned taxes and fees. She stated the fuel was $5.43/gallon (when Phoenix prices were over $6 - mind you NO WHERE in the State of Arizona is fuel over $6 a gallon..) come to find out it's $5.43/gallon PLUS TAXES AND FEES. We thought (like most would think) that the rental car could just be overnight dropped off and we could shuttle to the airport. One of the family members in our party had a spider sense that we should touch base to make sure they had a shuttle service (since we, like reasonable people wanted to get there a couple hours early. Do not rent from Fox Rental Car. Initially quoted about $260 for a 5 day trip. Was billed $616 after was all said and done. Was given the impression that I was opting out of insurance when I was just opting for the lowest rate they offered. Charge you $12.00 a day to have the ability to use a toll pass. Customer service's answer to the issue was that I signed off on the contract and I was responsible. National average for one week for a car rental is around $460. Predatory practices. While I made a mistake not reading the terms, the fact that I canceled a reservation within 2 hours after I made one and I can't get a refund is insane. They even claimed to have a "Fox Guarantee" when I made the reservation that would allow individuals to get their money back if they have to cancel a reservation for any reason. This company is a joke. They swindle people and I am never renting from them again. They claim to be a cheaper rental company. Does a $103 dollars a day for a small eco car sound cheap? I brought them back the car with a half a tank of gas which was what pre paid for and they charged me again. They also have a hidden fee that they don't tell you which they told me was an airport fee. They tell you about it after you are charged you $50. NEVER RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!! Honestly, the car was nice and I enjoyed my rental. However, about a month later, they began harassing me about an alleged unspecified "accident"and "damage" to the car that I did NOT do. The car was returned in the EXACT condition that I rented it in. I had no accidents. There was no damage. It amazes me that they are asking for my insurance info and credit card info- yet they can't even tell me what is wrong with the vehicle. Total SCAM. Don't rent from this company. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM Rented a car in Orlando thru Fox and it was one of the worst experiences ever. Priceline lied and said that they were on airport property, they are NOT. The rental car was clean, but was used HARD. On the 3rd day of our trip the car battery died in the parking lot of a restaurant. We tried calling roadside assistance and their estimate for help was 2 hours. Road side also said that the car battery was original and should have been replaced, that is why the car wouldn't start. 0 STARS Fox rent a car I want my $506 back rented a car for the end of August 2022 on May 17, 2022. A couple of days later I looked at my bank account and they have charged me the full amount which is fine for the car and also $500 deposit. I called to have the $500 deposit removed and have them charge me at the time of the rental. Deceptive tactics: Overall a good car rental experience for the price. I want to point out major problems with my rental. Pre-paid gas is a scam, the leasing agent offers a written advertised price per gallon that is much cheaper than the average gas station. What they fail to tell you is that their price is pre-tax, and you will be charged California state rental car and travel taxes on that amount.
