I was shopping for a mortgage, not knowing if I were a serious client, Scott answered my questions very professionally and no pressure. I closed the loan in about 3 weeks, no surprises.
I selected Garden State Home Loans because of the many positive reviews and the advertised "float-down" option. Unfortunately, my experience wasn't nearly as positive as the reviews led me to expect. Perhaps it's typical of mortgage brokerage companies, but from early on in the process, I was contacted by several people who in many cases didn't seem to be communicating. There were numerous cases in which I had to provide the same information/documentation to multiple people. My loan officer was Michael Collela. I don't know ... read more
Everything went smoothy with Garden State. Overall we were very please with their communication and response time. The only issues we ran into were: 1. They gather all your information by having you type it up and email it back. More than half of our information was entered into the document incorrectly so it was frustrating having to take the time to go back through it with them to have everything fixed. Would have rathered entered all the info myself in the first place to ensure its accuracy. 2. We didnt get the final clos... read more
Norm proactively worked my loan and had it underwriter approved in 2 weeks - and all this over email via which they responded and closed out each lender query verification often within minutes. This left the last week as nothing more than a procedural pause until officially closing on the house. And let me not forget to mention that their rates and fees were amongst the top one percentile best in the industry. Clearly I would offer the utmost recommendation for their value add service.
I know I can be a difficult client, but GSHL didn't bat an eye when I requested to change lenders days before closing, due to significant rate drops. Direct lenders couldn't compete with GSHL's rates and tried using scare tactics saying my loan would never close. They were wrong! My loan closed in February without a hitch.
This is the first review I have ever provided online, but I felt compelled to share what was an overwhelmingly positive experience. I was selling my home, and purchasing a new home; using Garden State Home Loans for the mortgage. During the course of the sale of my old home and the purchase of my new home, every single possible thing that could go wrong went wrong. You name it, home inspection issues, title company issues, communication between realtors, it was horrifying. The one thing you learn while going through this is ... read more
The staff at GSL worked diligently to get me my mortgage. Despite our lender (Quicken Loans) unethically requesting information that had nothing to do with my loan, GSL was my advocate through the entire process.
I recently used Garden State Loans to finance a purchase of a vacation home. Because it was a foreclosure that I was purchasing there was a very tight timeline to go to closing. The representatives at Garden State Loans worked quickly and efficiently in a very difficult situation to not only meet the deadline for closing but actually beat it by 11 days! Thank you Garden State Loans!
I would say overall the experience was good. The office staff was very responsive and knowledgeable and followed through somewhat efficiently. There were some items that they could improve upon. It became very confusing when the office staff would send me via email documents to sign and then three days later I would receive the same documents in the mail to sign. There was a lot of duplication -- a simple "copy - do not sign" stamped on the hard copies would have cleared up some of the confusion, or better yet be green and d... read more
