Get directionsMy mother was a resident at Halliwell from October 2014 to June 2015. The whole building is modern and very well maintained it has a very good and welcoming feel to it. The staff are efficient, very professional, kind and caring. They treat the residents with kindness and respect. Facilities are very good and residents are encouraged to join in the various activities. Food is excellent and visitors can join residents for lunch. All in my mother loved her time at Halliwell and regarded it as her home.
I was more than satisfied with my husbands care he couldn't have been in a better place but a few things weren't right so I haven't put excellent on all counts. Everybody there was kind, helpful, cheerful but sometimes it took rather a long time for anybody to respond to the bell for attention the catering was not always up to scratch. My husband has now passed away.
Business response:
It is very pleasing to see you have awarded Halliwell an “Excellent” in overall Standard of Care. I appreciate your bringing to our attention the slow response to the call bell that you had experienced and as a result we have been able to put new measures into place to ensure that this will not be repeated. We are very grateful for your valuable contribution to our ‘Friends of Halliwell’ team which is very much appreciated. It is lovely to see a family member join the group as it means that they have formed a valuable bond w... read more
Sadly I write this review with apprehension as my dad, although has always been a happy man and aims to please everyone, has of late become withdrawn and sad. After a lengthy amount of time at Halliwell he has been made to feel like a burden and someone of little importance. As new staff arrived things have changed and not in a good way. Where once I would have said this is the place to be with the love and care anyone would want for their family member this has changed. Unfortunately, care has been lost and it has been real... read more

We were disappointed to read your review and to hear of your dissatisfaction regarding your father-in-law's time at Halliwell. Please know that the entire team is very sorry to hear your concerns. We thoroughly enjoyed having your father-in-law with us for over five years. During that time, he became a cherished member of our Halliwell family, and we were all sad to see him move to another home. The maintenance team, in particular, will miss their boys' film nights and Chinese takeaway with him. While we're sorry that your e... read more
I have to say how disappointed our family was with Halliwell. I'm so glad he's not there anymore. Although a lot of the staff were lovely, I found the management very difficult to deal with. My father was often left in bed until nearly lunchtime which he hated. It seemed understaffed often, especially at weekends. We found him more than once with no drink and the buzzer put where he couldn't get it so he couldn't ask for help. The management was lacking in understanding and sympathy for my mother when visiting. There were is... read more
Business response:
I am sorry that you felt your father’s experience at Halliwell was not satisfactory. It is unusual for the home to receive negative comments, however, we have noted those you have made. We are pleased to hear that he has found somewhere that is more suitable for his and your needs.
