Any account of the Harbor View's history must begin with Edgartown, its legendary birthplace. Settled in 1671, this early colony steadily came to be known as a prime port for whaling. And as that enterprise grew, so too did Edgartown, in both prominence and influence. In fact, by mid-1800, this bustling municipality had become the Vineyard's wealthiest. But as the whaling industry began to ebb, Edgartown officials turned their attention to a new source of prosperity: tourism. With ambitions of building the finest resort o... read more

Over all we had a great experience at Habor View. Very nice accommodations, clean, friendly, helpful employees. The one negative experience was at the breakfast restaurant. We were seated promptly, but then waited 15 minutes for service. After we ordered our food, it was another 30 minutes to be served. Once our meal was completed, it took another 15minutes to get our check...an hour of our time spent waiting. On the plus side, the food was delicious, the servers were friendly. It seemed there was a shortage of help as the r... read more
Excellent experience Pros: Friendliness, spaciousness and cleanliness Cons: At check in, inquire if guest is in need of a rental car. Location: Visit to the light house, and breakfast at Lucky Hank's restaurant across from Stop and Shop. We stayed one night for Mother's Day. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room is very spacious and clean with balcony next to pool. Bathroom is very large. Great view of harbor and light house. There were 5 in my family traveling, and taxi charged per person which was very expensive. We had... read more
Water view We had a good time. Good food at Henry's. Located near the beach. You can walk to town. We wool go again
Lovely traditional hotel, nice location. Hotel is very appealing, beautiful buildings with porches and rocking chairs facing the lighthouse and beach. Nice location with short walk to town center, shops and restaurants. Rooms are very nice and clean. My one complaint is that we were placed on the 3rd floor, rear, with NO elevator. This made our stay a little inconvenient for two seniors. But overall, a very nice place to stay.
Old, even though it's newly remodeled Pros: Location is great Cons: Even though the rooms where newly renovated it still felt out of date. Location: This is a place you go with relaxation in mind, a bit of sun and some nice scenery a three day stay is enough. We came in late and got rooms on the ground level. The view was facing poolside that looked more like a work area. I do not believe the hotel was fully booked but they still placed us in a room without a view towards the sea. Not a good way of making us want to return. ... read more
Very very nice hotel with an amazing view!! Loved everything about it not one bad thing to say, except its a must try!!
Nice hotel Pros: View, location. Cons: Service We stayed at this hotel on April 2014. Great location and nice hotel. Proximity to light house was a bless for our 4 year old. All family enjoyed the porch. The service at restaurant was less than bearable. We waited 35 min for our toast and tea. It might be the off season but they were understaff for both breakfast (Water St Restaurant) and for Dinner at Henry's. Hotel is close to shopping and restaurants too. Overall we enjoyed staying at Harbor View.
