Any account of the Harbor View's history must begin with Edgartown, its legendary birthplace. Settled in 1671, this early colony steadily came to be known as a prime port for whaling. And as that enterprise grew, so too did Edgartown, in both prominence and influence. In fact, by mid-1800, this bustling municipality had become the Vineyard's wealthiest. But as the whaling industry began to ebb, Edgartown officials turned their attention to a new source of prosperity: tourism. With ambitions of building the finest resort o... read more

Amazing place The staff was wonderful, very helpful. The view from the hotel was amazing. Location was very convenient to dining and shopping. We dined at both venues in the hotel and both were excellent.
Very picturesque! Pros: I woke up and was able to look right out on to the water with Chappaquiddick in the background. I was only there for an evening; however, the hotel was perfect. Great location and close to town. I didn't have time to go to the beach so I am not sure how convenient that would have been.
Good location, facing to water, cosy room and friendly staff I was going to stay one night and experience this hotel because I am planning my wedding for next year here. So i like to check out this property in advance. The hotel is about 18 mins drive from wood holes/oak buff ferry terminal. It's right in the Edgartown. So you can find many shops, cafe and pubs by 5 mins walking distance from the hotel. Of course there are some nice seafood restaurants nearby. Check in was fast. We arrive at 1130am but the room was not ready... read more
A hotel with character and great location The hotel possesses great character, from its white wooden walls and dark floors, one gets the feel of being on a great ship set to sail. Its location at the far end of Edgartown across from the beach and the lighthouse, provide great views of the ocean. Sitting on the veranda facing the ocean, the sea air is brisk and intoxicating. We arrived at the end of May for several days, just when the weather began to get warm and the heated swimming pool was most inviting. We were impressed ... read more
Great location and beautiful view of lighthouse Was comfortable, rooms nice and clean. We had pool view but if willing to pay more can upgrade to beach andlighthouse view. The only thing was there is no hot tub/jacuzzi and the pool being outdoors was not yet open for the season. Also no air conditioning in May, was told it is not in operation till June even though the room was warm and temp outside was hot.
The hotel is beautiful, grand and amazing It has a very luxurious New England feel. The resturant is top notch! Will stay again!
WONDERFUL Pros: The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was well stocked with plush towels. Cons: The parking lots were full. We always found a place to park but I believe this was due to the fack that our stay was in "off season". Location: It is any short walk into town. We drove but that was because parking was easy, again because it was off season. This hotel was quiet, clean, and comfortable. Our stay was the week before Memorial Day weekend so the "summer vacationers" ... read more
Highly recommended. We stayed in one of the cottages that was completely remodeled and wonderful. Including a white picket fence. So lovely and welcoming. The only nuisance was the home being built next door to the hotel and waking up to hammering at 7:30am. Hopefully, that will be completed soon. The food at the restaurant was fabulous. We ate there both nights!
