About this business

Any account of the Harbor View's history must begin with Edgartown, its legendary birthplace. Settled in 1671, this early colony steadily came to be known as a prime port for whaling. And as that enterprise grew, so too did Edgartown, in both prominence and influence. In fact, by mid-1800, this bustling municipality had become the Vineyard's wealthiest. But as the whaling industry began to ebb, Edgartown officials turned their attention to a new source of prosperity: tourism. With ambitions of building the finest resort o... read more

Anniversary Weekend Pros: It was quiet, since it was the off-season. We enjoyed the lobby fire place and the board games (the backgammon boards need fresh dice). Cons: The rooms could be larger. I couldn't imagine spending a week in a room where the bed takes up 60-70% of the room. We had been very curious about life on the Vineyard off-season, after spending a week during the summers for many years. We found an attractive rate thru Expedia, and jumped at the chance to stay at the Harbor View for a weekend. The price was wha... read more

Quintessential island hotel Great location with beautiful views of the bays and ocean. Classic style Hotel/Inn with large character filled rooms. This is not a cookie-cutter style chain hotel. Friendly staff in both the restaurant, bar and housekeeping. An easy walk to Edgartown attractions. You even have your own private lighthouse.

Ordinary hotel experience I was not impressed with the Handicap Room that we were assigned. We did not need a handicap room. The room was not part of the nice hotel, but in a section that had been added at a later date. The area was wonderful. Easy walk down to Edgartown, and the view from the front of the hotel overlooking a light house was great.

Beautiful setting We loved everything about the hotel except the restaurants. the menus were very pretentious including no normal options. The service was great, the rooms were cleaned early and well. We went out of season so it might have more options for food during the summer but not now. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it.

Enjoyable stay This place has a great feel to it. Beautifully decorated and the views can't be beat. Nice amenities, very attentive staff, and our bed was to die for - so comfortable. Plumbing upgrades (shower/tub) wouldn't hurt, but overall this hotel was excellent.

Wonderful Fall Getaway Recently returned home from a wonderful stress free vacation in Marthas Vinyard, MA. Had a great stay at the Harbor View Hotel, Edger Town. Would highly recommend it to friends and family. Look forward to going again next year.
