I have used Brother printers before with no issue and I was excited to have this one because of its small size, however as soon as the it was installed whenever I wanted to print again it was always offline. I tried unplugging it and it still was not working. I reinstalled the drive like 3 times and always had the same problem, I even tried from another computer and it was same frustrating issue. Had to return it and went with an Epson that was half the price and works perfectly.
Even though the product was factory refurbished. It arrived without a drum and only a toner cartridge. When called Brother was told only Walmart will help. It took me watching some YouTube videos to realize why my toner cartridge was not seating.
This is the worst purchase of my life. Will not connect to any computer in the house. Will only connect to Google Cloud Print if the driver is installed on at least one computer; then it'll mess up the connection within weeks and never work again. Will disconnect from Wi-Fi anytime the Wi-Fi goes out, and it is a pain to get back onto the Wi-Fi. Great printer for the times it works.
I've been searching for the most compact printer I could find and the advertised LxWxH was going to be perfect for the space I needed to put this. Unfortunately what's listed isn't remotely close to the actual product dimensions which was the only reason I purchased this specific printer.
Bad Problem: Started getting Drum! Error - Slide cleaning lever back and forth. Did that A LOT but still didn't clear the error. Brother Tech support couldn't clear message. Told is was a Bad Drum Unit BUT- Past 90 days on Drum. Drum Life 12,000 pages - Printed 1,024 pages. Drum showed 92% life left but since it was over 90 days Brother says I have to pay $100 for a Drum for a $89.00 Printer. Going to get a HP or Canon.
After six hours of trying, printer won't connect to pc directly connected nor with wifi. Will probably return.
It might be a great printer -- all my other printers worked very well. This one, however, is beyond frustrating. No manual in the box. Not intuitive. I got a computer geek to my house and they couldn't figure out how to set it up for wireless. Over and over and over it print out all kinds of crap. It told us to "go to the menu 7, which did not exist The only insturctions were baffling too. I bought this in Florida and would take it back if I could. Yes, it's probably my fault. Printer setup and worked for a day. Then it went to sleep and never printed again on Wireless. Trouble shooted and still couldn't get it worked. Contacted Brother support via email and tried on phone but was hang up on. Brother Website got internal 500 errors. Eneded up returning to Wal-Mart store and explained the issue. We bought an HP from Wal-Mart and I hope it works.
The printer works OK but everything else about it is awful. The CD that contains the driver and other important stuff doesn't show up on my iMac desktop; the control panel at the top left corner at the top of the printer is practically unreadable and is without proper instructions for its use; there are no written instructions; etc., etc.
