I was happily surprised to actually get 2-day delivery since I'm in a semi-rural area. The printer itself is good solid unit...ex cept that it is advertised to be an automatic duplex printer and there isn't a setting on it to make it do so. It was the reason I purchased this particular model. Prints well. On Chat with Brothers for 2 hours to set up. I finally figured it out myself. Each time the power cycles you have to re enter the network password by pressing up down arrow keys to select characters. Prints a sheet for each error you make during setup. It used 39 sheets of paper to get it setup. I asked tech support how to make it stop printing reports answer you can't. Other than a pain to setup and a paper hog, it prints fine. I was a software engineer for 40 years, good luck to the technically challenged.
I could not hook this printer up to my computer. I tried the usb chord I tried with the disc. It would not hook up to my hot spot either. It just was a complete, complete disappointment.
Turns out it needs some cable to set up. Cable wasn't included! What would it take to have included the cable? Had to go out and buy one. Annoying, and unprofessional
Spent hours trying to install the printer software into my computer and was never able to complete the process. Error message kept saying that my router was not compatible. Would have just used an Ethernet cable to connect directly into the internet, but there was no Ethernet port on this printer model. Printer needed to be returned
This printer prints well when it can connect to your wifi network. It will connect after you download the drivers but then disconnect every time it idles. The cd that comes with it is useless because no laptops in our possession have a cd reader in them. Why not include a floppy disk while they're at it? Anyway, its been a total nightmare and a huge time drain trying to connect this printer to wifi and failing. Sometimes it will connect and sometimes not. You get what you pay for! Granted, turning the printer on and directly connecting to your computer is fine, but this is not a product for wifi networks. The UIon the device itself is very slow and frustrating to navigate. The directions found online, and on the install CD, do not match the menus on the device so there is a lot of guessing that needs to be done when attempting to connect to a wifi network. Also, there is no cancel button or any other way to stop a setup action (short of unplugging the device) I've been trying... read more
I owned a Brother 2270DW for years. Finally died. Picked this one up at WalMart. Since I was familiar with Brother printers I got the installation going. But, the documentation is VERY sparse and a bit misleading. If you aren't an experienced home IT person this printer will likely drive you nuts. I would bet a lot of people return these simply because they got frustrated with the setup. The 'online' manual is a Monty Pythonesque exercise.
