Unable to Connect Printer to PC The printer driver from the installation disc wouldn't download. I spent several hours working on this problem including contacting Brother tech support multiple times. They gave up and said it was a problem with Windows, but further research on the internet indicates that Windows isn't the problem. Interfacing with Windows is a fairly common problem with Brother printers. I ended up returning the printer to Amazon.
Keep shopping, skip this printer! Total PITA to set up. Do not recommend. Goes into sleep mode and cannot be easily woken, then the online manial sucks.
JAM JAM JAM JAM JAM I don't print a lot. I might print 50-100 pages a year. So far, I've been able to print about a dozen, but now the printer won't print a single page without jaming. I'll clear it. Jam again. Clear it? Jam. I thought it was the paper, so I got another ream and Jam Jam Jam again. What happened brother? I had the B&W version for over a decade and never once had a jam. I can't print a single page with this thing!
Beware the expensive toner I just purchased this printer about 4 months ago (December 2018). I use it in my home office to do bi-monthly newsletters. After just one newsletter run (of less than 100), it ran out of toner - at least it said the toner was low and it FORCES you to replace the toner. Brother toner is very expensive so I bought 3rd party toner and now I discover this machine won't take that. Piece of crap not printing correctly This printer has been having issues since 2-3 months and im dumb and should of contacted brother earlier because they only cover the toner cartridges up to 3 months and if i would of called this might of been handled for me. All the things i try to print are faded and crap quality. They want me to purchase new toners for $300 to see if that fixes my problem even though my cartridges are practically full. Does NOT auto duplex print/ does NOT copy or scan documents/poor print quality. Does not auto duplex, does not copy or scan even tho the advertisement stated that it did. Overpriced for just basic printing functions. Print quality is POOR. Simple black document is so light you can barely read it. Suppose to be a brand new machine but I have my doubts. 1 star problem out the box. wouldnt connect to my wireless network. even when right next to the router. no ethernet plug and it doesnt come with usb cable. returning. what a disappointment
Disposable-- but who cares? First, I should warn you that I'm a bit of a printer snob, having been Brother's District Manager for two southeastern states in the late 1980's, and the Southeastern Regional Manager for Kyocera for five years in the 90's. Total waste of money! Worst laser printer I've ever seen! This printer is great at printing extremely low quality pictures. I have adjusted everything on it over and over and it only gets worse. Do not buy this printer! My mom and my girlfriend got one and they both do the same thing.
