    Extremely disappointed - looking for another brand printer now *UPDATE* Very, very disappointed with Brother. I have had this printer right at four months and it gets light-moderate use. Recently colored areas started printing out with differently shaded linear patterns which eventually turned into huge 'smears.' This makes it unusable for any color printing. I called for technical support and I was told that all toners had gone bad and that I would have to buy new toners. It is only 4 months old and there is over 80% life l... read more

    The color printing quality is terrible. I'm sorry I purchased this product I purchased this printer to replace an older Konica Minolta Magicolor printer because it was getting too old and it would have been too expensive to repair it. I thought the Brother would print color images, greeting cards, etc. I discovered it won't print reds.... instead they come out brown. The color printing quality is terrible. I'm sorry I purchased this product....it was a terrible mistake!!!!!

    Extremely disappointed with product, service, and warranty Extremely disappointed. Setup was not straightforward at all. Drum broke after 5 months of very light use (less than 250 pages) and Brother refuses to replace drum after 90 days. Lousy printer, warranty, and customer support. Brother should stand by its product.

    This printer is a COMPLETE waste of money This printer is a COMPLETE waste of money. I bought it because of the features and the product reviews. You people are crazy if you think this printer is worthy of office quality work. The printed image colors are untrue and look "muddy". The printouts look like cheap wall paint in "flat" instead of "semi-gloss". Shadowed areas look blotchy. The resolution is grainy and dull. Enhanced resolution is just as bad.     Printer works fine.. Printer works fine . . . EXCEPT over a WIFI/LAN. If you are looking for a printer with a wireless connection, then move on and find something else. This machine automatically goes offline when you power it up after a power down and there is no way to get it back online EXCEPT by completely uninstalling it from all devices and then reloading the software and drivers and installing it on each device from scratch.

    I thought I had a bad machine, so returned it and had another sent ... If you need specific colors, this is NOT the machine for you! It also bends cardstock, leaves lines and runs out of toner quickly. I thought I had a bad machine, so returned it and had another sent to me, but that one was even worse with colors, and jammed more.

    and while the specs are better on this model than any of the others This is our fourth Brother color laser printer, and while the specs are better on this model than any of the others, it's turned out to be disappointing. One of the things we do is print our trifold brochures on these and our older models would print the exact same file four or five double sided pages before pausing, then pick up again.     Good news: starter cartridges have same capacity as standard cartridges Hello, according to the manual (and consistent with the printer comparison table shown on the web page), the printer comes with "starter cartridges" with 3,000 black and white / 1,800 color pages. Note that the "standard cartridges" have the same 3,000 / 1,800 rating, so you are not getting shortchanged. Sometimes printers come with starter cartridges that have greatly reduced page output, and then you quickly have to buy new ones, and that can be a sign... read more

    Not a dual-voltage printer. Nearly all other computer/printer manufacturers ... Not a dual-voltage printer. Nearly all other computer/printer manufacturers are compatible with 110V-240V or 50-60Hz. Not Brother.
