I had been with this storage facility for the last four years back when it was 19th ave storage. I was a college student and the people understood good customer service. I ended up staying with them up until istorage took over. They started charging an insurance fee on top of the monthly unit rental. Increased my fees more than 70% over the last two years. Then they lied saying I had to buy a specific renters insurance when in reality they were making me pay the highest rate. The manager tried arguing with me about my conce... read more

I had a terrible experience with this iStorage location. Initially I booked a unit online with the first month free. When I visited the location, I was moved to a bigger unit since the one I booked would have been difficult to load/unload. I confirmed multiple times with the manager that the first month(November) would still remain free. After moving in, I was charged for the first month. When I bough it up with the local manager, I was assured that since I was already charged for November, they would make December free. I ... read more

This is my first Yelp review, and I felt this strongly about the poor business practices that Daniel (store manager) manages there that I wrote my first review to advise anyone to look at other options. Needless to say, an email to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) is next. Service seemed good until I learned the company was pulling what I consider a bait and switch tactic. Here's my story: I rented a storage unit with the understanding of a 1-month free rent promotion (I have the confirmation email), but while I was at ... read more

I could repeat exactly what Cee V. and Josephine H. have said, but here's my version; What used to be 19th Ave storage is now iStorage and as good as the old one was, the new one is the exact opposite. Need a burned out light replaced? It's a corporate issue and will take weeks. Need to prorate days in your last month? The answer is no. Need to partition a wall turning a larger space into a smaller? The answer is no. All of these these things were easy with the old owners. No more. Add to this, lousy sullen help in... read more

We've been excellent tenants renting at this location for many years, and since iStorage took over from 19th Avenue Self Storage, it's been awful. As others have reported, maintenance has fallen as prices have risen. Two price increases in two years and yet lights are burned out and not replaced for weeks, the office manager is sullen, suspicious and lazy and it's impossible to reach the Regional manager to report complaints. Very disrespectful of the customer. They're truly only in it for the money and quick turnover. We'... read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. We had been renting for 10+ years and it's changed hands probably 3 times. Their service is the worst ever. Last October we discovered a major water leak in our unit from the rain. It was affecting several units. We had to keep calling back for an update with no returned phone calls. Finally they confirmed there was a roof leak but because they "were a corporate company, these things take time to resolve." We asked to move units and they said they would have to increase our rate... read more

They are not afraid to rip off poor college students. Looked at the website and the unit I wanted was about $90 checked back literally about a day later and it had been raised to $140. Even then, I was forced to get it because I had little options at the time. When I questioned the woman at the desk she tried to brush it off like "yeah it probably was raised..." like don't even lie you know that college students are desperate and your storage is conveniently located right near a college so you just so happen to raise the pri... read more

Business response:

Hi Mike, Thank you for taking the time to share your storage experience with us. We apologize the move-in did not go as smoothly as anticipated. Unit rates are automatically (computer based process) adjusted both up and down depending on availability and can be adjusted daily as a result. You will find this among all major storage companies. Unfortunately, between the time you first looked and then decided to rent, it appears the rental rate had increased. We do offer customers the ability to reserve a unit with a $25 ... read more

This used to be 19th Avenue Self Storage and the owners/employees who used to work there were great and their rental fees unbeatable. They acquired the business not too long ago and just received a letter from the mail that they're increasing my monthly storage rent effective next month. Been renting for a few years now and with this rent increase, it's probably time to look for another self storage company.

Business response:

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your storage experience. We apologize you have not found it completely satisfactory. Rental rate adjustments are a normal part of the storage business. Many factors determine current and future rates. From time to time, like all other storage locations, we find it necessary to adjust rental rates. I believe you will find we are very competitive in the market. We appreciate your business and would hate to lose you as a customer.

Terribly unprofessional business practices, I made an online reservation at 9:30 in the morning, and they had sold my reserved lot by the time I got a chance to call them back a little after 12:30. Even though I received a "confirmation" email that stated my unit had been held, and all I had to do was sign some paperwork on arrival then pay for my unit I was still told that my it had been sold and that they no longer had what I needed as a storage facility. If you're looking for honest people who run a business with ethics, ... read more
