My wife and I went to Keke's for a late Sunday breakfast, looking forward to a nice omelet! It is new and we were hoping good, but alas it was very subpar. First of all, the check-in was not very welcoming, and the place is really not much to look at. There are no decorations, or plants, just booths and lots of glaring lights. Been excited to try this place for a new breakfast option. There are already a lot of excellent places out there. Metro, Another Broken Egg, First Watch... Keke's at Durbin Park looks like they rushed their opening. The decor is a hospital cafeteria. For a new place, I anticipated crowds and high staff energy. The turkey club I got today had the cheapest processed turkey I think they could find. Not at all impressed. This was nothing like the one I got a few months ago.
I was so excited that they came because I tried a Keke's café in Orlando and it was great. However this location is horrible. I have tried it three times and I'm not a fan. I am hoping that they get new management or new cooks, because I really want to like this place since it is so close to my house. Pancakes are ok. Service was okay as well. Rest of the food is nothing to brag about. Please KeKe's turn it around!!!
We have only eaten here twice and both times I ordered the exact same thing and both times they brought it to the table and it was incorrect. It's not like I am being picky...I hate tomato and I ordered the panini cheeseburger wrap NO tomato, and yet it arrives with tomato. If it was just a cheeseburger I would pop off the bun take the tomato off and be fine, but this is a panini and so I would have to peak it open and pick out every diced tomato. Our first time here, it was ok. The hostess is the first impression: two large hickies on her neck. Seriously, the size of a 50 cent piece. The food looked better than it tasted. The service was super slow for a breakfast place. My husband ordered a Philly Cheese Steak. The server brought him a philly cheese steak omelette. She offered to fix it, but we'd already been there an hour so he just ate it, well half of it. My waffle was really tough. We should have gone to Waffle House.
I really wanted to like this place but after my first visit today I don't think I'll be back. It was clean and bright and our server was friendly but my mom has to wait for her coffee and was never offered a refill. She had to flag someone down to eventually get it. After no less than four tables that came in and ordered after us were served we flagged down another server (ours disappeared) to find out what was going on. Was excited to try this fairly restaurant in the area. The restuarant itself is very clean and the employees are friendly. The food, however, is bland and overly priced. My Eggs Benedict presentation was nice, but that's where the happiness ended. The hollandaise sauce was just terrible. It had a strange tangy taste that resembled nothing if hollandaise. Our take out was subpar to say the least. The breakfast potatoes were so salty they couldn't be eaten, my Greek omelet with feta looked awesome, but the feta was like chunks of chewy rubber, $7 for two orders of missing bacon, and the pancakes were raw in the middle. My five year old did enjoy his chocolate chip waffle, so there's the one star. At 8am on a Sunday before the morning rush, you would have expected better. That was a $50 mistake. It's a bummer because we live so close.
