Hadnt been to Kramers in years b/c the last time we were there the their ingredient quality had gone down especially in the mac and cheese. Today my friend and i said, lets give them a chance for lunch. We walked in through the back, who appeared to be the host, looked at us and turned her back on us so we assumed she didnt work there. Allergy: Tree nut warning: Goober Pie has walnuts and peanuts in crust and on top. They served first, called the chef after 15 min. But they did try. Spiked cider is delicious, though!

I'll be visiting Kramers again so I can update my review after sampling the food/drinks. But as far as bookstores go, Kramers feels pretty standard. I'm not sure if it's a problem with the layout of the space, the size of the space, or the quantity of books, but Kramers was wayyyy too crowded on a Sunday morning. It was difficult to navigate the narrow aisles, and there was little room to browse if you wanted to spend time in a section without feeling like a barrier to all the other patrons. If you want to dine with rats, this is the perfect place Otherwise avoid at all costs!! Tuesday evening, while we were INSIDE, a large rat ran across the ledge by the tables, in the restaurant, and down some stairs in the corner. Told the staff on hand; none seemed phased, adding insult to injury. No token apology, no offer of some compensation. Enough said. I was unfortunately pretty unimpressed with Kramers when my friends and I came to celebrate a birthday. We had a reservation and were seated immediately, and our waitress was very lovely and attentive. Unfortunately, the quality of the food let us down. I had the gochujang tuna tartare, and the flavors were good, but a lot of the pieces of tuna seemed like they were from a less than ideal cut of the fish - many were very chewy and borderline inedible. Legit do not order drinks from the bar. They legit water them down all the way. Also in general food was ok but overall sounds good on paper but taste bad.

The atmosphere and the food was great! Definitely a great portion of food and it was delicious. However, the wait staff was very rude and disrespectful. Our waiter, after approaching our table for the first time, did not introduce himself or say hi; he just said "drinks?" He never spoke and was very rude when we asked for accommodations on our orders. When we asked to split the check in the end, he sighed and professed his annoyance about having to split the check in the system.

I'm local and I thought I'd deviate from my usual favorite bookstores in the area and take a look in Kramers. Sad to say I found the young staff to be mildly hostile and unfriendly. I don't think they really seem to get the spirit of bookstores. This place is run more strictly than a luxury goods store or something. Service was slow and food was of low quality. The salad was not fresh and the avocado toast was mediocre. This used to be a good place with good food, but unfortunately, no more!
