I stopped by Kramers when I was in the area a week or so ago, and I really love the concept - bookstore/diner. I love bookstores, so a bookstore where you can get a coffee or a meal? Kind of my dream. However, I didn't realize just how small the actual bookstore portion of Kramers is. If I lived in DC, I'd definitely order books from them (because they're not very large and don't have a ton of books in stock) or browse for things, but it's not large enough to have everything you need without ordering. Despite what some other... read more

Hello Alexis, we appreciate your feedback. Yes, we do have an online bookstore that is fully stocked - https://www.kramers.com/shop-online/ We can also special order any book for you to pickup in-store.
Such a cool bookstore/cafe combo! Kramers is located in DuPont circle right by the metro station. They have a great variety on the menu and the seating area is so cute. I got their pasta which was delicious, and for dessert the chocolate mousse. After eating we spent some time walking around their bookstore which is organized really well. They have a large selection and the employees are very helpful with helping you find what you need.
This book shop is super adorable and even has a cafe inside. They have so many different book options inside, I wish I could read them all. Perfect place to come to on a rainy day.
Awesome little bookstore that also has a restaurant and bar!! The bookstore side is not huge but still has a great selection of fiction and some nonfiction. Vibe is really nice. There's also a restaurant and bar in the back that's great. The food and drinks are all quite good and quite cheap by DC standards. It's open till 10 so it's great for a fun late night drinks and book shopping night--lots of fun!
Best bookstore in DC by far. They have good selection of everything and staff is very friendly!! Also the restaurant is amazing although a little expensive
A local bookstore/restaurant that features a killer fried chicken sandwich, Kramers is a great place to spend a Sunday or weekday evening. The outdoor seating is plentiful, the staff kind and attentive and the food very appetizing. They even sell hot tea by the pot. My favorite being the jade green tea. The bookstore has a wide collection ranging from children's stories to LGBTQ+ history and over to contemporary fantasy all carefully curated by the staff. They even host cool events like jazz or comedy nights. Definitely chec... read more
This review is about dinner at Kramer's and is not a discourse on the deservedly famous independent bookstore; it's about grazing not browsing, if you will. When my wife and I, after years away, returned to DC ten days past to dine at Kramer's (I'd had lived up the street for several years many moons ago), we had had no recent experience of the place but sailed in from points west to DuPont Circle on optimism disolved in nostalgia. In fact we went because a friend from Germany had been impressed on a visit and had recently ... read more
It's been quite a few years since I visited the restaurant at Kramers (it was always very good), so this is a review just of the bookstore. On a recent visit, I was impressed with the breadth and depth of the books in stock. (Note, this is an independent new books bookstore - there are some fine used bookstores in the area, but that's a different review.) I asked a staff person about one I was interested in, and sure enough, they immediately pulled it from the shelf for me to take a look. This was a fairly obscure newly pub... read more
We visited the cafe in the back of the bookstore. The employees gave amazing service and there was no wait time! I had a tasty veggie sandwich and their red sangria. I'll definitely be visiting again!
