I use to like this bank a lot, till they hired people who gave me the wrong advice when renting apartment, teller there told me to use cashier checks for my payments when I explained to him I needed safer way to give the money to home renter cause it was off Craigslist, told me I would be safe if at any point using a cashier check, I lost 3k an came back to them. My disappointment and ongoing headache with this bank dates back to April of 2019. My husband was with the National Guard and was on orders away from home. Previously we had our interest rate lowered per The Servicemen Civil Relief Act, and had no problem in doing that. However, he was again put on other orders and we had requested a deferment per The California Military Families Financial Relief Act, in which I've been having issues with since April 2019. I know it is not this branches fault but I don't know of another way to share how frustrating it is to try and make payments on your automated services. Every time I call I have to call back a minimum of 4 times in order to make a payment to my car loan. Not to mention you can barely hear the automated person talking. I press 1 and say yes and I still get directed to an operator which does me no good because by the time I'm off of work and able to call you are closed. Please try to do something to fix this. Mixed feelings, great rate of return, never busy when I go in and they gave us a secured loan at a great rate to help us get reestablished with our credit scores. However, I applied for an auto loan refinance and was denied. There was very little effort and never received a decline in the mail, just a phone call to say sorry. I do not recommend this credit union for banking or loans. They have an overly strict board. They are supposed to be the credit union for alumni of Cal State Long Beach. Their interest rates are very high. Unless you have excellent credit they do not want to do business with you. There are other credit unions that will treat you much better.
