I have been coming to this vet since 2006. Today's experience has soured me for good. I asked for an estimate for my dog's teeth cleaning. Over the phone I was told around $300-$500, but the best amd more accurate estimate would be if they could see his teeth. In hindsight, then would have been a good time to ask if there was a fee associated with getting such an estimate, but I did not think to do so because other vets charged me nothing for an estimate on the same procedure. Upon check in, I indicated I was there for a tee... read more

My pup at a mouse, a mouse that was likely poisoned by neighbors (it came into the yard and died - dog didn't kill it). This vet is around the corner from us and open till 8pm. I called them at 7:15pm and explained the situation, but they were entirely unwilling to help us, stating they were too busy and i'd have to find another solution. I even begged/pleaded; noting we are neighbors and that my partner had a dog who died from eating a poisoned mouse in the past. No go - you'll have to make other arrangements. To turn you... read more

Business response:

Dear Mike C. I am glad that your dog is doing well. At Linda Mar Veterinary Hospital, our top priority is the wellbeing of our patients. Each of our patients will receive 100% of our attention at the time services are provided. Unfortunately due to the nature of veterinary medicine, we sometimes receive a flow of cases which needs our immediate assistance. In these situations, if we think we won't be able to offer the help and care that these cases deserve, we will refer to either an emergency room or a referral center, kee... read more

I have been a customer for about 20 years and was just forced to seek care for my pet elsewhere. I have always paid my bill at the end of each visit but am currently undergoing financial difficulty. My pet needs daily vital medication and LMV refused to prescribe the refill without me incurring approximately $300 in exam & lab fees. They are under new ownership and unwilling to accept payment plans or to negotiate a compromise. Part of my financial hardship is because I just spend thousands of dollars at LMV earlier in t... read more

Business response:

Dear Marsha S. I am truly sorry about your recent negative experience at our hospital. As a part of the new ownership at Linda Mar Veterinary Hospital I can assure you that the new ownership philosophy is to improve our customer service and patient care rather than damaging our long history and reputation. Our hospital's new management policy is to follow the previous ownership's strong points and to educate our clients to enable them to make the best decisions for themselves and their pets without any pressure. The change... read more

My dog was showing abnormal behavior of panting, pacing, painful whimpering, and being unable to sit comfortably for a few days before we took him to Linda Mar Vet. My uncle usually takes his dogs here for checkups, so naturally we figured it would be best to bring our dog to this vet. We have a little pomeranian and he recently turned 12 this year. He gets a lot of anxiety when going to the vet, especially since he was traumatized the last time he came, so he was extremely uncomfortable on top of the whimpering he was alr... read more

I had been using this clinic for several years for the care of multiple pets. For a positive, they have such long business hours and are open 7 days a week. I have usually been able to get quick appointments for urgent care (at an additional cost, FYI). However.......their cost is VERY high compared to other clinics in the area, and they are not particularly good at working with the client to explore less costly options. They want to run a full battery of tests at every case and even a simple problem can run up a very hi... read more

I have used this clinic for 25 years and have watched it go from an outstanding facility to an average, upselling, too busy to care veterinary hospital. If you are lucky, you will get a vet that is willing to share alternative, less costly approaches, but rarely. I am switching vets.

Sigh, I brought my cat Simba here a few years ago (yes, this review is long overdue) because he was having issues urinating and seemed to be in a lot of pain. The staff was quite friendly. I brought my cat back where their Vet who examined him and the end result was he had kidney stones. He needed monthly medications and examinations, which would ultimately run me a $1000.00 a month (give or take), for who knows how long. Just to clarify, I have no problems with paying for visits up front at the time the service was rendered... read more

Business response:

We are truly sorry for your loss. Losing a pet in any situation is painful, but most especially if you are balancing your decisions on whether or not you can afford to pursue long-term care. We have worked hard to expand our payment options to offer help ease the burden when a client finds themselves in this situation. Our focus is on helping and we're sorry that you felt that help fell short.

I think this place is not professional enough to let me have 100% trust on what they are doing. Well, the doctors are nice, and of course professional(they HAVE to b). But the people at the counter seem that they have No idea what they are talking about. I had taken my pet to this place for like 4 times including first doctor examination. I call them every time before I show up there to make sure what needs to be done for my cat and for little consultation. However, the person I talk to on the phone, and people I talk to whe... read more

I am so sorry I have to write this review but I think other pet owners should have this knowledge. I have been a client of Linda Mar Vet Hospital for over 6 years, I presently have 5 dogs that are patients of LMVH and I volunteer for Lab Rescue coordinating dog surrender and adoptions. I also foster for Lab Rescue. I have no problem with any of Linda Vets, they are great and have given good care for my dogs. Having said that, their fairly new office manager is terrible at providing any customer service and is probably is ... read more

Business response:

We have numerous rescue organizations that we welcome and support whole heartedly. Additionally, we have other private programs of our own that have supported low cost spay and neuter for pets as well as feral cats. Our comittment to helping in these ways has not changed in over 20 years. For the protection of our efforts as well as those of rescue organizations, we need certain information to establish a relationship. This information was requested, but not provided to us. We would still welcome this organization with ... read more
