I've been to Madison Reed Hair Color Bar - La Jolla three times now and it never disappoints. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the salon is beautiful!

Fern and Tessa were great. I had three different hair colors-grey grow out, grown out highlights, and different colored ends. Fern took the time to explain my options and I left with great hair! Tessa washed and styled me. I loved being able to make an appt online and that they work as a team to take care of you! Great experience!

Came back and they fixed my hair. This time around, it blew me away! I had to pay more than I think I should have. At least I received 25% off from the monthly plan I'm on. The owner/manager never did respond to my request to message me through here. Didn't want anything crazy but to have them fix my hair. Thanks to Fern! She was extremely patient with me!

I came into the bar today and it was pretty busy in there. The ladies working today did a good job of managing despite the number of people and made everyone visiting feel important and looked after. With a different staff this could have been a very different experience so kudos for grace under pressure. My new color looks great and I love my blowout! I'll be back and I would recommend. Thank you

I never write bad reviews, but I had to write this time because of their poor treatment. I say this because I was booked for 3:45, but they attended 30 minutes late. I asked about it then the girl booking the appointment says 'oh sorry, we are very busy". Then why book an appointment at that time. The girl taking the appointment had an attitude. I was planning to sign up as member but I decided not to.

The people were not very welcoming or polite. I asked for an ashy hair color and I wanted it LIGHTER than my hair originally. They showed me something significantly darker and I said I did not like it because its not what I asked for. They said they would have to bleach my hair to get it lighter and it would take 5 TO 6 HOURS. I have medium brown hair and wanted light brown hair. bottom line...I spent $169 dollars and my hair looks worse than when i arrived. My gray hair was not fully covered , and I said very clearly please make sure the front is fully covered. When I pointed it out to the manager after my hair was dry, she just denied the issue and said they were only to cover the roots. If your job is to color hair then it is your job to tell the customer what it would take to cover the gray if covering the roots and gloss is not enough even though that is what I have been having done for the las... read more

This is a color/highlight only salon. I went in for a Partial Highlight/Balayage Service. I am overall very satisfied with the result. Since the website doesn't tell you much about prep, just FYI, I shampooed (no conditioner) the night before, and I finger detangled again the next morning with water only just to revive my natural curl pattern. Went here for an appointment a couple weeks ago for highlights. Was excited, I wanted a new change and the price seemed well. I won't deny their prices are good for the services., but unfortunately I'm not able to say anything about the highlights because I didn't get my hair done here.
