We had a family dinner and were a party of 10. Was impressed with the vegetarian options on the menu considering half of us were vegetarians. Very efficient and fast service. Great food and ambiance. Gets busy so best to book at least for large groups.
If you...want to dive in a little more full-on into Burmese (cuisine), Mandalay Restaurant in the Richmond District would be a fine choice. Ate here while visiting my aunt who lives in Jordan park. Staff is friendlier than Burma superstar and it's less crowded. Tea leaf salad is a must try. We shared entrees at our table--fish and asparagus special was very good, Singapore noodles were delicious and Szechuan beef was tasty, but watch out for the little red peppers.
excellent Burmese food (not chinese)
Don't bother with the long wait list and hype of Burma Superstar! The food is excellent here, and their burmeses curry is top notch. The staff are friendly and not overbearing.
First timers should try their rendition of the famous Roti Prata with their delicious dip accompanying it. If you are a curry lover, try their excellent Burmese Beef Curry with rice, or if you prefer noodles, indulge in their yummy Mandalay noodle bowl with fresh herbs... Even the waiter will put in lime and serve it for you on the spot!
My family and I have been going to this place since 1993. I feel like I come home when I come here. Sherry is super friendly and is like a family member. The food? Don't get me started. If I could eat from one kitchen for the rest of my life, it would be from the Golden Mandalay.
Lovely unique dishes allow experimenting with the menu and having no regrets what one orders. Many dishes surprise one pleasingly with their complexity. The staff provides friendly guidance and really cares. Great value for the quality.
