I loved the ambiance of this restaurant - it was truely unique. However, the food was not as good as I thought it should be for the price they were charging.
We were extremely pleased with Mangiamos - it was my husband's birthday and it was his first choice. He grew up going to "Gibson"s and was disappointed when it changed hands, but we have been VERY please with the outcome! We were married outside when it was Gibsons so it always holds wonderful memories for us. The food was excellent!
This is my second visit here and the food was not consistent. Both times I visited they were out of an item that I wanted. But, I will be back as I'm hoping they just had an off night as the food is really delicious when prepared properly.
Love the happy hour drink & appetizer menu, and their regular menu as well.
The staff was so accommodating to our large group (20) and allowed each couple to have separate checks. After the busy dinner service, we had our own room!
From my perspective Mangiamo! is the gem of the Gilmore Group's holdings. Our sole regret was that we had not dined there before. Our party of five was thoroughly delighted, pleased with the food and the caring service and charmed by the 19th-century Italianate Revival setting. Went for my birthday dinner of lobster ravioli. Also had fried calamari and the caprese salad. Calamari had nice crust and good size for two. Tomatoes for caprese salad were fresh. Lobster ravioli came out hot - rich and creamy too. Service was great and waitress was not overbearing. Even got 1 song played on the accordion - and the player did not hang around the whole time. 1 song was just enough! :)
My wife and I had dinner here on our anniversary and although I enjoy good food and don't mind paying for it, I dislike pretentiousness in a restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised with the very good food, reasonably priced, and very comfortable atmosphere. The wait staff was very helpful with accommodations and suggestions. The serving portions were generous and appealing and servered within a reasonable time upon ordering. I would come to this restaurant again without a special occasion and would recommend it to a friend.
I had the surf and turf special. It was very delicious, but it was served at a less than hot temperature. The service was very good as were the drinks.
