We went to Mangiamo for our anniversary this year. We were eager to try it and haven't seen the restaurant since it was Gibson's years ago. The property is still gorgeous. My scallops were excellent and my husbands steak was OK. The dessert was very good. Our service was excellent. All the seating is charming, and the outdoor seating is nicer than most with a beautiful yard like setting instead of a parking lot. I would return and encourage friends to try the restaurant.
We ate here for the first time early on a Tuesday evening.....weather was lovely, facility was beautiful, but food was moderate....food was not always hot when presented, not enough ice in glasses on a warm summer evening--just not enough attention to detail. Conversely, prices were not as high as I thought they would be, so perhaps that's the trade off. I'd prefer the food to be stellar and give a bit on the ambiance. We'll try again, but not right away!
We liked this restaurant very much. The appetizers were very good and different. The sea bass was delicious, pizza was great, but the short ribs were not good. They were very fatty and the potatoes under them were greasy. This was not an edible dish. That part was disappointing. The creme brule was not good either, it was watery and curdy. The other desserts were great!
This was our first visit to Mangiamo and we will definately be back. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect.
Wow, that is the least that I can say is wow. The meal that I had at Mangiamo's was one of the top meals that I have had in my lifetime. Everything was perfectly done and the serving sizes were not too small like a lot of nice dining places are. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. It is a bit expensive, but for a "once a year" or a special occasion. This is THE place to go!
Service could have been better. Stuck us in the corner and may have forgotten we were there. For the money you'd expect to be treated better.
I had been to the restaurant a few years ago and was underwhelmed, so my expectations were low when I returned recently. What a pleasant surprise to find everything--food, service, atmosphere--so overwhelming. It's such a great old mansion, and it deserves the excellent quality found there now. In addition, I really appreciate the offering of small or large portions on the menu; although the food is so good, one is tempted to go big.
This is the second time that Mangiamo's hasn't given credit points To Open Table for dining.
As always, a pleasant experience. We were there the first night of a new menu that I wasn't a big fan of. My favorite, chicken marsala, is no longer on the menu. The food menu is now down to two pages, of which one is all the entrees. On that one page is two columns, of which one is entirely "pizza" selections.
