I had been planning for months to propose to my girlfriend (now fiancee') on New Years. I had a family ring, but being a guy had no idea if it was good, bad, what kind of shape it was in, etc... I went to Mervis and they were extremely helpful and informative. They let me know that the ring was in good shape, but since it was an heirloom could use a cleaning, polishing, and refurbishing. My partner and I were very pleased with our experience and glad we took the advice of friends to visit Mervis. Mark S's review of Mervis and his account of Emily (actually spelled Emilie) is so uncharacteristic! With patience, good humor, and class, Emilie has helped me find an entire outfit of diamonds for my fiance/wife. I went to Mervis with a girlfriend of mine to get some ideas for her engagement ring! Her guy gave us the OK to pick out some styles she liked and then he would go in afterwards and pick from amongst those. And they decided he would pick out the center stone on his own too. I planned to propose to my girlfriend while we were on a mini vacation in DC. So, we went to Mervis to shop for an engagement ring. It was one of the worst experiences ever. We were greeted by a security guard who gave us directions on how to operate the doors. One of them opens only when the other closes. We felt we were in a prison not a jewelry store. family-owned businesses that provide unparalled customer service are hard to come by these days -- mervis is one of those 'diamonds' in the rough. truly outstanding customer service. would highly recommend to anyone in the market. and who doesn't love those radio commercials?! :)

After a horrible "used-car" experience in the Tyson's location, my fiancee and I decided to try the DC branch, hoping it would be better. The service was definitely much friendlier, this could be because at this point we really had in mind what we wanted. Becky was great in finding settings that were exactly what we were looking for. I recently purchased an engagement ring for my fiancée from this location and it was an outstanding experience! I already had a Tacori setting in mind but needed help choosing a diamond. Although they didn't have my setting in stock, my salesperson Emile Brebeck found another Tacori setting immediately that I liked just as well and it was also cheaper. I recently purchased my new fiance's engagement ring here. I received good, but not fantastic, customer service. One thing about Mervis is that you really need to have an idea of what you are looking for since they don't have displays of jewelry to look at. Instead that seat you in a room and bring you what they think meets your description.
