Mervis Diamond Importers is a family business run on old fashioned family values. Brothers Zed and Ronnie Mervis were trained in diamonds by their father Morris Mervis and they continue their legacy in the traditional way -- with honesty and integrity. Raised in the diamond center of the world in South Africa, they learned about diamonds at an early age. The brothers have always focused on quality diamonds and great value.

I had been planning for months to propose to my girlfriend (now fiancee') on New Years. I had a family ring, but being a guy had no idea if it was good, bad, what kind of shape it was in, etc... I went to Mervis and they were extremely helpful and informative. They let me know that the ring was in good shape, but since it was an heirloom could use a cleaning, polishing, and refurbishing. I left the ring with them and it came back in immaculate shape! When I took it to the appraiser they commented on how clean it was consider... read more
My partner and I were very pleased with our experience and glad we took the advice of friends to visit Mervis. We presented to our appointment looking for an engagement ring setting for a stone provided by a family member. Much to my surprise we spent almost two hours with Dodi, who was from start to finish patient and accommodating. Neither my partner nor I had ever shopped for engagement rings and Dodi answered all of our questions. We are also pleased that soon after meeting us and asking that I briefly describe what I wa... read more
Mark S's review of Mervis and his account of Emily (actually spelled Emilie) is so uncharacteristic! With patience, good humor, and class, Emilie has helped me find an entire outfit of diamonds for my fiance/wife. I have had great experiences buying from Emilie and Mervis, and I know others will too. Seriously, do NOT pass up Mervis if you're looking to buy diamonds. I first walked into Mervis on K Street two years ago after looking for an engagement ring at a number of other places in DC, including Boone Jewellers and Tiny ... read more
I went to Mervis with a girlfriend of mine to get some ideas for her engagement ring! Her guy gave us the OK to pick out some styles she liked and then he would go in afterwards and pick from amongst those. And they decided he would pick out the center stone on his own too. She got to choose the shape, but not the size or clarity. Anyway we went into their store one Saturday afternoon and I have to say we were treated very well. (This was after we were basically ignored at a few other stores for being 2 girls shopping withou... read more
I planned to propose to my girlfriend while we were on a mini vacation in DC. So, we went to Mervis to shop for an engagement ring. It was one of the worst experiences ever. We were greeted by a security guard who gave us directions on how to operate the doors. One of them opens only when the other closes. We felt we were in a prison not a jewelry store. After we were seated in what felt like an interrogation room, a blond sales person introduced herself as Emily. She asked us a few questions about what we were looking for t... read more
family-owned businesses that provide unparalled customer service are hard to come by these days -- mervis is one of those 'diamonds' in the rough. truly outstanding customer service. would highly recommend to anyone in the market. and who doesn't love those radio commercials?! :)
After a horrible "used-car" experience in the Tyson's location, my fiancee and I decided to try the DC branch, hoping it would be better. The service was definitely much friendlier, this could be because at this point we really had in mind what we wanted. Becky was great in finding settings that were exactly what we were looking for. She let us take time in comparing the settings and really seemed interested in getting the style exactly right. This part was great. The two stars is for Becky's service and for the setting sele... read more
I recently purchased an engagement ring for my fiancée from this location and it was an outstanding experience! I already had a Tacori setting in mind but needed help choosing a diamond. Although they didn't have my setting in stock, my salesperson Emile Brebeck found another Tacori setting immediately that I liked just as well and it was also cheaper. I was also very pleased that in helping me select a diamond, Emile was very honest and presented options actually under my price range instead of simply trying to sell me the ... read more
I recently purchased my new fiance's engagement ring here. I received good, but not fantastic, customer service. One thing about Mervis is that you really need to have an idea of what you are looking for since they don't have displays of jewelry to look at. Instead that seat you in a room and bring you what they think meets your description. I had a good idea of what I was looking for and this worked for me, but Mervis wouldn't be a good place for someone who was looking for ideas. In the end, I opted not to buy a diamond fr... read more
