Dr. Merz patiently and thoroughly answered all my questions about knee replacement surgery. I had his full attention and never had the feeling that I was just another patient that he had to get out of the way in order to move along to the next one. That alone is worth a 5-star rating. Beyond that, he was quite personable and a pleasure to talk with. I left the appointment with a lot of trust in Dr. Merz.
Dr Merz did my knee arthroscopy surgery 2 weeks ago and I am feeling great! He is a really good listener and skilled surgeon. Also I am very impressed with the Southpoint Surgical Center. I had superb care there. Wonderful nurses.

Dr. Merz is a kind and caring Doctor who really cares about his patients. He is smart and qualified in his field of medicine. He did hip replacement surgery for me and I highly recommend him.
If you are looking for a hip-replacement surgeon, you've found him (I can't speak to knee replacement). Great surgeon, great bedside manner. He did my hip-replacement on an outpatient basis; I went home the same day, was walking with only a cane after a week or so.
Dr Merz never made me feel rushed during my appointment and answered all of my questions. My knee surgery was very successful and I would highly recommend Dr Merz.
Dr. Merz is truly a gifted surgeon. Over the past two years he has done a complete knee replacement on both of my knees. He has fantastic bedside manners, he is patient, he cares about your “story “, always gives different options to consider, and as a patient makes you feel comfortable with the decision that you choose. I would highly recommend Dr Merz to anyone needing a TKR. He totally won me over when he sat on the patient’s table with his Star Wars socks on display to listen carefully to my questions and concerns regarding my surgery. I met with Dr. Merz, primarily to get a cortisone injection in my knee for my arthritis. He was delightful to talk to and took my mind off the pain of the injection. And, he patiently answered all of my questions.
