KEEP DRIVING!! Our little home town vet clinic is way better than this place. My little dog was attacked by a large dog and needed emergency surgery. THEY DO NOT HAVE SURGEONS ON CALL OVERNIGHT. They leave at like 5pm. I had no idea at that time. Had to wait overnight with my dog’s guts having been torn out of her abdominal cavity. They told me that the surgeon comes in at 8 and she would be in surgery at 8:30. Got here and no one knows anything. Then they told me 10:00. It’s now 11:00 and still no surgeon and very little c... read more

We appreciate your opinion and feedback. We strive to be able to provide the highest level of medical care available and are sorry to hear that you feel this way regarding your experience with us. Our board-certified surgeons are on-call after specialty hours and on weekends, however, there are times that they may not be available. We also understand the importance of communication and are glad to hear that Christina was able to help in that area, however, we are always looking for ways we can improve. If you would like to d... read more

Do not trust them with animals. They simply will do unnecessary crap and take advantage of you and your pet. Caused distress to my pet and left her to die and blamed me.

Used once before COVID and thought they were fabulous. Have tried to use twice since. Turned away both times. Front desk staff have no compassion for the animals or caller who is scared for the family member.

Business response:

We apologize for your most recent experience with our hospital. Unfortunately, the veterinary industry as a whole has experience exponential growth over the last 14 months that has caused many in our industry to have the need to divert patients elsewhere for care in order to maintain the highest level of care possible and avoid extended wait times for more stable patients. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to be able to help care for your family should you need us in the future.

Pet owners in NW San Antonio, it's worth the drive to a different part of town. This is not a functioning 24 hour facility. I've been waiting 8 hours to have a sick puppy seen with no doctor visit in sight. Pet owners are expected to wait in their vehicles or get special permission to leave. There is no communication about expected wait times. There is only 1 vet after 5 pm, which is not operational.

Business response:

We apologize for the wait you experienced during your visit with us. Please know that we do our best to see patients efficiently. Emergencies are evaluated and seen based on the severity of illness or injury, rather than order of appearance. We value your time and hope to help every patient as quickly as possible. Thank you for your feedback - we are always striving to improve our services!

Recommend for treatment and diagnosis, but not euthanasia. While my dog received decent care (I assume) and an accurate diagnosis when we brought her here over the weekend for an emergency and staff was knowledgeable and kept us informed during her stay, I was very disappointed in the euthanasia procedure after we made the very difficult decision to end her suffering. We were told when to come in and that everything would be ready when we arrived, but we ended up waiting for almost two hours in the car before we were brought... read more

we tried to bring our dog in 3x and were turned away due to being maxed out. our dog has been having seizures for a few days. our vet told us they called and was told we wouldn't be turned away but we were. we were told it would be $2800 just to have an overnight stay for observation. we requested the neuro call us but here it is day 5 and no call, no response. they diagnosed our dog with degenerative Myelopathy after 100s of dollars spent and sent us home packing. after the seizures started we went to our vet who told us go... read more

On Friday (11/13) our chocolate lab Bodie developed breathing issues after coming inside from playing with Charlie (our 9 month old Aussie). A chest X-ray done at his primary vets office showed that he had a spontaneous pneumothorax (collapsed lung) and I had to rush him to MissionVet Specialty & Emergency. I didn’t think he would make it there if I’m being honest, this guy was struggling so hard to breathe. Initially the Emergency DVM’s diagnosed a left lung pneumothorax, although a CT done on Monday showed that he had a pa... read more

Very awful communication and overall experience here. Had to have my dog put down on 10/5/2020 after being hit by a car and he apparently bit a nurse while being handled (out of character for him but he was in pain and probably already dying) and waited about 4 weeks to hear back for the results of the rabies test they put his cremation on hold for and when I would be available to pick up my dogs ashes. I called at least twice a week because I never heard back from anyone after being told I would get updates, then they claim... read more

This is a very over priced place, they guilted and rushed us to do the most expensive treatments when they weren’t necessary. After waiting for hours with no updates and no response I finally called and got through just to be told my dog hasn’t even been seen yet. I had to be the one that called to get updates because they were not doing their job. Took us 8 1/2 hours to finally get our dog back because they didn’t see her as a “priority” at all. The after effects they left my dog with were horrible and when I called with my... read more

Ms. Willgus, we are sorry that you feel this way about your recent visit with us. Much like a human emergency room, we triage patients to be seen based on the severity of illness or injury, rather than order of appearance, which makes it difficult to provide estimated wait times as we do not know what cases will be coming in through our emergency department. We had multiple critical cases arrive while your pet was waiting to be seen. If you would like to discuss your pet’s care in further detail, our hospital director, Paul ... read more
