My name is ********* ***** and I have been a customer with NEP for about 3 years now. I would first like to give this company a compliment because I see continual growth and improvement to help their customers with their needs. I am a single pregnant mother of 4 children that is unemployed and is applying for disability. I have worked with Pam,Dan,Nikki, and Kristen to name a few people who have went above and beyond to help me with my situation. Dan was able to help me keep my electric on this winter by truly going above and... read more

I am very disappointed with this company, I live in an apartment and my utility is always high around 200 or more, I missed a payment on the 3rd of February my electric was shut down on the 4th. I have a pre existing condition and my medication has to be refrigerated and my dr sent a letter to have reinstated up to now, they keep saying it can me as AEP instead of NEP sorry or we haven't received another letter from your dr and so forth. I wish I wasn't working with this company who would rather a person dies that working wi... read more

New month new shocker. Bill this time is $320. Funny side note. This month based on NEP we used 2104 kWh. The previous month, we were not home for 20 days, we used 2105 kWh. How is that even possible?? Also I had the PUCO review our bill. PUCO said our address is in a AEP regulated area, NEP is overcharging. I was instructed to call NEP and ask for to bill our account within the threshold allowance of AEP. Which I got brushed off really quickly by a gentleman who called himself a “supervisor”, telling me NEP is charging me w... read more

Business response:

Per our agreement with your community, and as directed by the PUCO, NEP is obligated to always match or charge less than the given rate of the local host utility providers for residential electricity usage. In other words, the rate that is applied to electric usage will never be higher than that of the host utility provider. At your particular community, the host utility provider is AEP Columbus Southern Power. Charges for usage on a NEP bill can be compared directly against the host by utilizing their rate calculator, which... read more

I always thought something is wrong with NEP, since we moved from Chicago to Columbus! Chicaho we paid for the whole year the same amount like here with NEP in two month. Anyways new city new rates, I accepted until this morning my mind got blown. Our bills are usually around $120 - $180. This morning we received our December bill, $310. But here is my big problem, we weren’t even home half of the month. Half month not home but the bill is almost double from the previous month. How is tha even possible.

Business response:

Thank you for your feedback and for taking the time to speak to us yesterday. Please let us know if you have any other questions or need additional assistance or information. Have a great day!

I have lived in my apartment complex for a little over a year now and NEP was the only electric company available. I will say they are one of the MAIN reasons I am NOT renewing my lease next year. Besides the electric bills being incredibly high, they don't offer any payment arrangements unless you owe about $400.00 then you will be forced to pay half. My issue is I moved from one apartment to another at the end of my lease. Therefore I owed for the final bill as well as the being charged for the new bill (new apt). I sent i... read more

Business response:

Good afternoon. I am not able to locate any account information based on the limited information provided in your review. If you would like to provide account information, I would be more than happy to go over your account with you to see how I might be able to help. NEP offers payment arrangements to any resident with a past due balance of any amount. We do not have a minimum threshold to assist our residents. As a condition of service with our customers, NEP is obligated to always match or charge less than the given rate o... read more

This company is robbing me blind... I was out of my apartment for 2 of the last 4 week cycle and my bill is outrageous. Before I left I turned everything off and unplugged everything- there should have been virtually no usage. I tried to call the company and the representative who spoke to me was very very rude and when I asked to speak to a supervisor I was put on hold for quite a while and then told no one was around and they would get back to me. Two days later and they have still not gotten back to me. I requested a repo... read more

I have only known of one utility and water company since growing up. And it wasn't NEP! I have only been living by myself since July ! My first and second month bill seemed to be reasonable . Mind you my thermostat has only been set on one tempature since moving . As it's gotten colder my thermostat moved up 5 degrees . That month bill increased only 10.00 electric wise . My water and trash bill has been consistent. But the following month my utility bill increased over 80 bucks more than what it has ever been !!!!! I called... read more

I wouldn't wish doing business with this company on my own worst enemy. They charge excessively more than AEP or the like would. Their late fees are ridiculous. They have an included "Community Charges" in the bill with no explanation of what that actually is, and it always accounts for more than 10 percent of the bill. I live alone in a single bedroom apartment and even if I work to conserve electric/water, my bill has never been less than $169.

Aside from the company's practices for charging exorbitantly for electricity, this company's payment system is poorly implemented and has resulted in extra fees. The online system was unable to recognize the account number provided on the paper bill. When following up via phone to attempt to correct this endeavor the offices were closed. Though I was able to create an account on the company's website, the ability to link my utility account was unsuccessful. There is no technical support provided on the website, nor even a nu... read more
