NOT WORTH IT!! DONT TRUST DR KHAN! I am a long term sufferer so I understand the process. This place is a JOKE. Yes, its clean, updated facility, but they really should have bought a few less plasma TVs and spent some money on training their staff. This is a glorified nursing home. The daily mental health tech staff is shockingly ill equipped to work with mental illness patients. Facility Has Potential but Needs Improvement. I showed up in crisis and they admitted me. I can't complain about that. But this being a new facility it has many quirks to be worked out. It's new and it shows in a variety of ways. I found most staff to be helpful except they do not always offer help but are easy to approach. Some staff were younger and were less experienced and this negatively impacted my stay. My son was addicted to opiates and alcohol. I took him there after calling and reviewing several facilities. Plus it was close by my home and I could visit. Arrived on Sat. and was told they could not get ins. approval over weekend. ( are you kidding me?) Monday they called and said he had been approved and could come in anytime. I paid his $600.00 deductible and they admitted him. I found out later that they had not even attempted to get his authorization until 2 days after admitting him. STAY AWAY! I can't tell you how horrible my sister's experience at North Tampa Behavioral Health was -- first they MISDIAGNOSED her and treated her for the WRONG ISSUE (even though we explained at admittance what the problem was), and then after that was fixed they "accidentally" gave her the wrong medication, resulting in two seizures and a trip to the ER and immediate admittance to the hospital. terrible faculty and unprepared staff members. Do not go if your looking for treatment. theyre very unprofessional about treatment and the staff are not only bias on diagnosis. they try and label you the minute your there. very disappointed i asked a family member to go there for help, they treated my family member terrible.
